This hotel is situated close to the sea and the beatiful beaches at Slettestrand. The hotel area is quite extensive and we got a room far from the reception which suited us fine. The room was nice, even though it was a bit spartan. We really liked the bedding. The bathroom was OK, nice and clean though a bit narrow. The breakfast buffet was OK, quite varied, though it took some time for the staff to fill up the spreads. A drawback for the room was the fact that other guests were passing right outside our window. To avoid this you have to book a room with a private terrace. Unfortunately there was a large group and many children from some kind of welfare program staying at the hotel during our stay. Subsequently the atmosphere at the hotel in general and at the breakfast in particular was noisy and annoying, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the stay.

We (family of 5) arrived early evening at Ronnes Hotel, which is a quite large yellow brick stone structure probably from the 70's and actually not that charming a building.

The service at the reception and in the restaurant later on (from two smiling waiters, who were not overworked with only 4 tables occupied in the 40 table restaurant) was smiling and forthcoming.

Further the two course menu we had in the restaurant (with a surprisingly fair priced Chablis) was way above expectation and actually really good. Compliments to the chef, who obviously was not overworked neither.

The service and the food takes this hotel to my 3-star rating, as the hotel itself is a bit off the "beaten path" in Slettestrand, the building and decor could use a major brushup, and the rooms are nothing to brag about (bathrooms probably from the 80's, and a TV, where the you had to hold on the tape holding in the batteries on the remote to turn it on). Finally: We never got the WIFI to work.

Rønnes Hotel is a former pension which have become more of a hotel.
Prises are OK, and good value for money. Very quiet area, and easy to fall asleep.
Food was average, and too under-sesoned to make more than average rate.
Beware: There are limited serving times for food, and you have to pre-order meals to get a table. Food is not as exceptional as review says, but above OK.
Breakfast was excellent, though it changed every day.
Service was good, internet connection so-so, but worked without falling out.
Good beds, good shower, though not ultra-clean, and the bathroom shampoo (combined showergel and shampoo) was not good, but of the cheapest sort.
Only Danish channels on TV.
Very close to the sea. 5 minute walk.
The area is very attractive, and driving roads are excellent for all types of driving.
Suitable for families on a budget. Child friendly.

Room tip: All rooms are equal and on first floor.

Hotel is somewhat worn down. Generally the cleaning was ok, but it was lacking in corners. Breakfast was fine, but could be improved if the serving staff paid more attention to filling up. Friendly staff. Beds could be better and the booked 2 extra beds, consisted of a 20 year old sleeping sofa with a width of 120cm. Thankfully my children are small but we still ended up with one of them sleeping in our double bed...
