My wife and I were joined by two other couples. None of us had been to this restaurant previously but had visited the more well known Alfredo’s next door.
We received a very warm welcome from the owner and staff and were seated in the covered outside section which despite this time of Year was pleasantly warm, due to strategically placed gas heaters.
Starters we ordered included the ever popular gambas pil pil, anchoas with tomato, sardines with lime, and scrambled egg with pata negra. Delicious, and washed down with a manteqilla sherry freshly drawn from the barrel. This restaurant specialises in a fine selection of traditional sherries drawn from the barrel on the premises. Well worth trying as they are substantially superior to bottled sherries.
Mains dishes included grilled fresh turbot, sea bass, squid, and fillet steaks, all served with fresh seasonal vegetables, and washed down by a fine Spanish Sauvignon Blanc. Flambé cheesecake with cranberries followed which was absolutely delicious.
Service was excellent throughout the meal and the very attentive waiters and owner ensured that our evening ran smoothly without problem. An added bonus was the flamenco dancer who added to the ambiance of the evening.
It is worth repeating that this restaurant prides itself on providing top quality local sherries drawn from the barrel, and it is well worth trying the many different types. The staff are very considerate in helping ‘first timers’ choose the right sherry for them.
Overall this was an excellent dining experience, one that we hope will be repeated on future visits. I have no real complaints and this is definitely a restaurant we thoroughly recommend to travellers looking for a complete dining experience at a competitive price. Well worth a visit.
