We spent a nice relaxing week here. Nice and surprisingly green place with a friendly staff. Good food, but bu the end of the week we giot a little bored by the limited choice. But the Andalusian and Spanish themed food corners we excellent! I definitely would likte to return there some day.

I've driven past the hotel many, many times. I've never stayed there before, and in all probability won't bother to come back! It does look interesting from the road. However, you need to think carefully before committing to a stay here. The best bits are the breakfast and the salad bars. There's a fairly pedestrian selection of all-inclusive drinks, but wander off the AI list and the international brands are at typical hotel prices.

So, for a start, there's the location. Cortijo Blanco is a good half mile from the sea. When you get to the promenade, there are a few kiosks and a few restaurants and a 2 mile walk to the right along a well maintained prom. The beach itself suffered from storms in early 2018 and it is mainly pebbly and stoney so you need shoes to get into the water, and there's a strong undertow in places. Turn left at the sea and there's a part boardwalk and part paved path to Puerto Banus. There are a few sheltered bays where you can swim, Several beach cafes were charging up to 15 euros for a sunbed and a cup of coffee will cost you 3 euros or more.

The town of San Pedro is over a mile away. There's a good market north of the town on a Thursday and the hotel provides a free 55 seat shuttle bus which was over-subscribed when we were there. A cup of coffee in the town costs around 1 euro!

Around the hotel. Avoid rooms by the main entertainment area, if you want to turn in early! They can be very noisy. Rooms at the far end - away from reception are around a large pool, and are much quieter. If you don't smoke, you might not like sitting out. A fug of tobacco smoke hangs over the outside areas when the weather becomes still and sticky as it does often and in the evenings. Neither or us like second-hand tobacco smoke and the perfumed exhaust of vaping and the only respite came from retreating into the indoor bar.

Entertainment came from a hardworking animation team. Games and poolside activities during the day. Several nights they also provided the main stage entertainments, although we did see a Divas tribute band and a Flamenco show.

The main restaurant serves buffet food and claims to offer 'International" Cuisine. The English breakfast was good (!!!) and there were some continental cold offerings. Wine, soft drinks and beer, teas and coffee are on a serve-yourself basis from taps and machines at either end of the restaurant, which gets very crowded at peak times - and although we always found a table, we had to queue for our food. The best parts of lunch and dinner were the salads. There was an adequate supply of chips, but for me, the hot meats were a bit variable although there was always a reasonable selection of fish, The sweet table had a lot of sticky sponges, but there was a good selection of fresh fruit.

The staff were always friendly and the place was clean always. However, we left feeling generally underwhelmed. We didn't feel that we had overpaid for what we received, but other places are better.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of August, two adults and our two children, 8 and 9. Overall we had a lovely stay but because of the dining room situation and the location of the hotel I would say this is a four star review:

+ The gardens are beautiful and the groundsmen work tirelessly
+ It was immaculately clean, the maids cleaned daily and provided clean towels (you will need beach towels though)
+ Air-conditioning was very effective
+ The food was hot, varied and plentiful. We had lovely meals every day, the fresh fish was especially good
+ A free bus to the marina, a must visit....so you can choose your yacht when you win the lottery...
+ Sunbeds are always available so no need to set your alarm at silly o'clock like some places we've stayed
+ There is a two drink only order policy, but this means that you aren't queuing for long and the bar staff work very hard
+++ The entertainment team are fantastic, they really make an effort to welcome you and make sure you enjoy your time there, no they aren't professional entertainers but they produced some really enjoyable shows and had the patience of saints with some of the kids!!

Unfortunately there were a few negatives that made me leave a 4 star review
- The dining room is not big enough, the food was lovely but having to que single file means that the food on your plate inevitably becomes cold and is quite dangerous with everyone nudging each other (the side room that is used for day time snacks could be used for food stations, puddings, salads, pizzas etc making the main dining area more roomy and efficient?)
- We went to San Pedro one night and it really was a lovely old town, but walking home along a VERY busy dual carriageway, with two little children wasn't exactly a relaxing stroll, I'd recommend a taxi.
-. The alcoholic drinks are watered down, order Cava that's lovely.

One last point and this has NOTHING to do with the hotel. There is a small shop on the right of the hotel DO NOT SHOP HERE!! On the first day we went and brought all the things that the kids wanted. We spent almost 100 euros in there and within an hour the 25 euro Lilo they choose deflated, so we took it back and the fella running the shop said these things happen and said if we gave him 10 more euros we could have another! They are much cheaper in the main town.

Great staff, Great food choice and quality but sometimes hard to get a table in dining room when busy. Our room was great and the cleaning staff did a great job. Bar staff worked really hard to ensure there was no long queues Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 153 Had a large balcony overlooking bar area but giving privacy due to trees outside.

We enjoyed our stay, but there is very little close to this village if you like to wander out for the evening and you have to be prepared for a lengthy journey to and from the airport. The food overall was good as was the wine with lunch and dinner.

Room Tip: Our rooms were very basic, but I understand there are better rooms available.
