Four of us spent a lovely evening cooking up a storm with Nieves and Juan Antonio at Umami. Nieves the owner and Juan Antonio ( a chef who speaks excellent English) designed an exciting menu for us which embraced tradition and innovation and used mainly local ingredients. I loved the gazpacho with its strawberry and beetroot twist and all of us were delighted to get the chance to make our own tortillitas de camarones. We got better as we went on !! Other courses included mackerel in a citric and cinnamon escabeche and cuttlefish with seaweed and garlic -all gourmet and delicious.
What a great thing to do on holiday !! As well as cooking eating and of course drinking we got an insight into local culture and lots of top tips for shopping and eating out.
We were treating our granddaughter and her partner. They enjoyed every minute and will be hunting down algae and cuttlefish ink when they get home.
Thank you so much Nieves and Juan Antonio !
