We arrived on a Wednesday night in June to this unassuming restaurant near the main fountain in Praia da Rocha. It’s appearance could deceive that the quality inside is not worth it..... nothing could be further from the truth.
We arrived to a warm welcome and immediately led to a table.
We ordered bread to start, a bottle of house wine, a Portuguese steak and a fillet of swordfish done Algarve style.
Bread and butter was promptly served along with the wine, which for €10 was all that was expected and more.
Our mains were simply a delight and delivered so much more than the facade of the building had promised.
The Portuguese steak with its fried potatoes and egg and generous slice of Parma ham was perfectly seasoned in its red wine sauce with fresh herbs throughout.
The fillet of swordfish was delicately doused in an Algarve sauce of tomatoes garlic and onions which worked well with the boiled potatoes.
A real hidden gem just 5 minutes from the main restaurants of Praia da Rocha.
Another good sign as always with restaurants was the patronage of mainly Portuguese people, if the locals eat here tourists can be assured it’s a good bet!
