Just loved this hotel - it's in a wonderful setting with plenty of walks in the vicinity for anyone looking to get away from it all. The rooms were a good size and extremely comfortable with everything you need. Breakfast comprised a good selection of continental, fruit, eggs etc. Staff were helpful and friendly. I'd happily return here.

Lovely hotel, good facilities, the room was excellent with plenty of attention to detail to ensure a comfortable stay, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff helpful and friendly. It's a few minutes drive out of the very pretty village of Bayrischzell.

I've come to this hotel because of its proximity to Munich -- you get here easily by train --, the good reviews on tripadvisor, and a fantastic previous experience in another Romantik hotel in Italy. The expectations with the Hotel Der Alpenhof have been disappointed. The good things about the hotel are: it is clean, the location is nice, the surroundings are beautiful, and the interior of the building is decorated as a typical Bavarian house. For all the rest, we have bees quite disappointed by the way the overall structure was run. Worst of all, the restaurant. Very bad experience for dinner mainly because of the service (I wrote a detailed separate review for the Seeberg restaurant) -- my advice is to go and eat somewhere near but not in the in-house restaurant. We had high expectations for breakfast, but the actual experience is not what you would expect from a 4-star hotel that advertises breakfast as one of its highlights. Breakfast is self-service, which is of course fine if food is available all the time. Instead, you typically have to wait for the food to be available -- everything from the plates runs out instantly and the service is very slow. On top of that, coffee is served from jars on the table. Croissants look like supermarket-style, defrosted with microwave owen. The bread is not always fresh. There is a bar in the hotel, nominally open from 8:30pm. In three days, we only saw once a barman available. One morning there was no hot water in the shower in the room. Another day (mid July, outside temperature 25+) the heating system in our bathroom was on. We also tried to use the swimming pool but the temperature of the water was very cold. I have to praise very much one of the concierges -- typically working in the afternoon -- for doing all the jobs you would not expect from a concierge: spilling beer for us because no one was working at the bar, cleaning the outside tables for letting us sit there, taking care of the heater and so on. He was simply exceptional, but from a 4-star (Romantik) hotel you should expect much, much more. It looks like an understaffed place, where things are organized somewhat superficially. Highly disappointing for a 4-star hotel

Stayed here recently whilst attending a family wedding as part of a large party.
The rooms are comfortable and kept clean. The reception staff were friendly welcoming and helpful. In particular Martine who was helpful before I arrived at the hotel and during my stay and Thomas was cheerful and helpful.
The restaurant had a good menu and the wine and beer were good. We ate outside on the first night but also inside on a particularly rainy night. Another evening a barbecue was arranged and the food was very good.
In the bar and the restaurant Claudia was a star serving the drinks with a good sense of humour.
The breakfast was very good with a good choice.

here were not any coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms. here is a nice spa pool and sunbathing area.
My only criticism was that late at night the bar was understaffed although the barmn did a good job.
A nice friendly hotel in a beautiful setting minute walk away from The BOB train station at Osterhofen.

We stayed here for two nights. Check in was very good with the Reception staff speaking English. Room was great with its own outside seating area with loungers. Big bed, spacious bathroom and big shower cubicle. Fluffy white robes and towels provided. Breakfast offered a wide range of continental meats and cheeses as well as cooked options. There was a wide range of teas as well as coffee available. We had dinner the first night. I had the pork goulash which was delicious and my husband had the half duck which was enormous. Both came with red cabbage. All delicious. Husband had the cheeseboard to follow which offered a good variety and quantity of cheeses. I had the chocolate mousse which came with cherries and green peppercorns, not sure that the peppercorns added to this and probably would have preferred it without but it was different. The hotel has a pool but I found this a little chilly for me. There is also a spa and sauna plus treatment rooms. Spa facilities were good but a word of caution my husband slipped on the stairs as he had showered before going down the stairs. All in all a good stay.
