Not brand spanking new but clean, tidy and homely had everything you could want . Ideally located close to the beach and for touring North Norfolk including our personal favourite Titchwell RSPB Centre, Thank you Caravan H37 for helping us to have a lovely holiday, hope to see you again soon
Have just returned from an enjoyable week's holiday in a Gold 3 mobile home booked via Hoseasons. We were a party of 6 and the mobile can take up to 8 people (3 bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the lounge.)
First, the positives! We were fortunate that the weather was fine , dry , and mostly sunny all week, and we were able to find plenty to do every day in the local area to satisfy 3 children aged 4,6,and 11 as well as 3 adults. The younger two children loved the children's entertainment in the evening, and also the on-site (rather small) pool. The pool was rather cool in the mornings ,so we found it better to go there in the afternoon. The water was not as clean as we would like, but that may be unavoidable given the amount of sand which gets blown in or brought in on people's feet. It is a pool for playing, not swimming.
All of the staff we encountered on site were friendly, pleasant and helpful.
However, we felt that the accommodation was very basic, and we would have struggled to manage if we had had bad weather. We have stayed on many, many European sites where the accommodation is much better planned /arranged and the standard higher--more attention to detail. Little things make a big difference in a caravan.
The living/dining area was spacious ,but lacking in shelving or cupboards, so we don't know where on earth the 2 extra people (had we been a party of 8) would have put their clothes etc.!
Décor was a universal drab shade of brown throughout.
The "dining table" was a lightweight corner table which was not big enough for 6 people, let alone 8, and was so wobbly that it was not safe to place a drink on it with children around.
Two stools were the only seating provided, apart from the two corner sofas.
Nowhere to put anything (soap or shampoo) in the shower cubicle, apart from on the floor --awkward for children and adults alike!
No hooks for coats /clothing anywhere, apart from 3 by the main door to the caravan.
No clothes -pegs to attach clothing to the small over-the- window drying racks which were barely adequate for the amount of clothing and towels we had to dry.
No outdoor furniture( nor any outdoor space to put it, had any been provided). We did have a barbecue on several days, but had to eat indoors because there was literally no space to sit outside. On European sites ,one of the great attractions is being able to sit outside to eat and to relax in the evening in front of your mobile home/tent.
The caravans were so closely packed ,that actually reaching our van by car was quite a challenge each day --it was often impossible to turn into our "lane" because of other cars parked in it. We had to park our 2 cars as close as possible beside our van , either side of the entrance, and it was in that small space that we had our barbecue.
Bedrooms were very small indeed; we would have preferred slightly more space in each bedroom and slightly less in the living/dining area. The single beds are too small for adults.
The launderette on site was a bit expensive, we thought, (£4 for washing and £2.50 for drying) especially as we also had to buy tablets or powder for the washing machine, rather than the liquid and fabric conditioner which we had brought with us.
Playground was very small for the size of the site--it hardly deserves the description of "adventure playground"!
We didn't have any meals on site so can't comment on the food, but we did have drinks from the Boathouse Tavern; the service from all bar staff was good. Shop staff were also friendly and helpful.
We booked our holiday early,(November 2015) and paid what Hoseasons described as "Best Price" of £701, a saving of £241 against the supposed full price of £967 for the week. I think if we had paid the full £967, we would have been outraged, rather than slightly disappointed, in the quality of the accommodation and the lack of outside space.
We have said "yes" to the question below about " good value for money" because we paid a discounted price--but if we come to the area again for a holiday , we would rather spend more and stay in a cottage near Old Hunstanton, where the beach is just superb.
