“A very nice apartment in a great location!”
Reviewed 26 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We have just spent a very enjoyable and relaxing 2 weeks at this very large apartment. To be fair it is a bit basic but that was reflected in the price we felt and did not detract from its homeliness and comfortable furnishings. The apartment has air-conditioning and ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living room. We were there mid-September so the temperature didn’t really warrant needing the aircon but the ceiling fans were just right for that time of year it seemed. Although it was just myself and my husband staying here it has two bedrooms and there is plenty of space for a family.

The bedrooms have plenty of space for clothing etc. large wardrobes with plenty of hangers, chest of drawers in each of the bedrooms. The master bed has a large memory foam mattress bed which we found no trouble sleeping on and very comfortable.

The kitchen has a hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave plus a washing machine with small drum with a 30 minute wash cycle which is nice for a quick wash to perhaps freshen your towels and a few items of clothing as I did half way through our stay. We were supplied with five bath towels and two hand towels for the two of us for our 2 week stay. We were told to ask for more if we needed them at the office. The kitchen has many cooking pots and utensils to use and plenty of crockery but we only ate lunch and breakfasts there as it was so cheap to eat out in any of the nearby restaurants we decided not to cook.

The living room is very comfortable with a large sofa and two arm chairs and lots of cushions dotted about the place. It had a large sideboard useful for storing stuff and in one part a supply of glasses for wine and brandy. There is a dining table and chairs, a TV with some English TV not that we watched it. The WiFi was excellent and with its own router so very good if you want to keep in touch with the outside world back home.

Large patio doors lead to the outside where there are two patio areas; one is under cover and has a gate which you can lock. There are table and chairs out here plus a BBQ and a clothesairer and supply of pegs. Then with just a small step down you are out on an open patio which was a lovely suntrap with two sun loungers. There is another table and chairs here which is very nice to have breakfast or a night cap on listening to the waves or watching the world go by. Plenty of room for a few people out there even though it was just my husband and I staying here. There is a gate separating the patio from the walkway and cycle path that runs outside it. Be careful as the cycle lane is immediately as you step out and some cyclists can whizz by rather fast we found. If you were to walk straight out without looking a nasty accident is a possibility. We treated it as you would a road and looked both ways before we ventured out. In the main though it is a very quiet cycle lane usually used for the tourist fun bikes.

The pool is only a short distance from the entrance to this apartment and is very large. It is a lovely pool that you can step in and out of each end of the pool gradually. The shallow end starts off quite shallow so great for young children and there are clear dark lines warning you as it gets deeper. We practically had the pool mostly to ourselves during our stay in mid-September. Lots of sun loungers around the pool with sun shades and plenty of options for sun worshipers or shade lovers. There are also toilets by the pool. The only thing missing we felt from the pool area was perhaps a bar or ice cream booth.

The apartment location is fantastic with only a short walking distance to bars, restaurants, supermarkets and tourist shops selling the usual stuff. There are a few large hotels along the beach front which have entertainment for their guests this can be rather loud if you are passing but the apartment is in a very quiet location which is surprising as it is so near to everything. The Spar supermarket sells pretty much everything you would require on holiday. There is however a larger supermarket further away that may have more selection but it was a really long walk and to be fair the Spar had all our basics and at a very cheap price too. It had all we required and was perfectly adequate for us during our stay. Some of the more basic restaurants were a bit samey and offered almost exactly the same menus. We found some places the food inedible and others just plain bland and uninteresting. However there are nicer places out there you just need to find one to suit your tastes, there are plenty to choose from for sure.

We have not been to Roquetas De Mar before and it is a bit larger than we usually like in a resort but have to say what a lovely place it is. Clean especially the fine shingle beach that stretches for miles and miles, the people so friendly as well. Although we didn’t venture too far as this was meant to be a restful holiday for us but there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas. We did take a walk to the Marina which took about 45 minutes along the sea front which was very enjoyable and obviously plenty to see and do there, much more than we were able to do that day. Taxis and busses are available though and we were told at a very reasonable price if you wanted. Also a lot of fun is the little Train that takes you around the resort that takes about 40 minutes at a cost of only 5 Euros per adult and 3 Euros per child. Bikes are for hire everywhere and seemingly a lot of people used these to get to places like the Marina or the nature reserve. Of course a car would take you further so if you are looking for day tripping probably a good idea to hire one.

Finally have to say that we have had such good customer service from Steve the owner and his team in the office Lourdes and Andrea. Steve replies to any queries you may have before you get there via the booking site. It is often so quick a response which makes a change from some where you are left for days or hours waiting for a reply. We had a problem with the shower while we were there which was very quickly dealt with and we had no further problems with it after that. The complex itself is very well tended, the pool crystal clear and pool area tidy and safe. All in all a very comfortable reasonably priced apartment in a fantastic location.
