We had a lovely two weeks here in 2017. The villa is set in the hills overlooking Caminha which is a beautiful and relatively quiet north portuguese coastal town. Pictures don't do the spot justice it is a big property very well kept and furnished, would suit large groups. You do need a car to get around and to the beaches and mountains or use the local taxis for a night out to Caminha where there are any number of very good restaurants. There was a medieval festival while we were there in Late July which was great fun and we just missed a local wine festival. Would we go back ? Yes we enjoyed every minute at the villa and the hosts were very good. Highly recommended....missing the superbock sundowners by the pool.
This is a lovely, well-equipped house in a stunning location. You have to know that it's a little remote, with lots of winding narrow roads to negotiate, but that's also part of its charm, and in fact the nearest shops, restaurants, etc are only 5-10 minutes away by car. The house itself is exactly what you want for a relaxing get-away - lots of well-maintained equipment in the kitchen, a choice of indoor or outdoor dining areas, everything you need for a great BBQ and a fantastic, good-sized swimming pool. Francisco and Miguel are welcoming, very responsive and super-helpful. For reasons best known to us, we were keen to have a working piano in the house, and when they found out that the existing instrument wasn't quite playable, they arranged for us to hire (at very reasonable cost) another one within about 24 hours. Great service. I was really impressed that at the end of the stay they asked us to tell them about anything that wasn't quite right - there was very little, but it's good to see them taking a personal interest in things that could be improved.
The nearest beach is Moledo, about 15 minutes drive away. It's very family-friendly, surrounded by a variety of surf shops, restaurants and bars, and not too busy - easy to park. If you have a car there are plenty of options for day trips, but in the end the attractions of the Casa do Castanheirinho meant that we spent most of our time lazing around there. Bliss!
We spent 2 weeks in Caminha and it Washington very pleasant. The house is beautiful, very big and well equipped. The landscape is really Nice, between mountains and sea. Caminha is in a very nice corner of Portugal, full of activities. And Fransisco and Miguel are very welcoming, kind and disponible.

We stayed with a group of 7 and had a fantastic stay in this villa. The hosts (Francisco & Miguel) were very welcoming, even though we arrived at 12 at night. The house was perfect for us, great swimming pool, privacy and close to the city of Caminha, which is a lovely Portuguese city with a lot of nice restaurants.
Definitely recommend the place to everyone who likes privacy and a lot of space.
