In 2006 we stayed in Domus Cilento for the 1st time, and have been back many times. What impressed me most was the well laid out apartments, very well equipped, spacious, and the very large balcony with views over the town of Santa Maria, and the sea beyond.
The apartments are close to the town, about 5 mins walk to the centre, yet are very private and tranquil. Access is via a security gate with ample car parking. Each apartment has its own entrance and a view of the swimming pool and the sea.
We like the fact that the owner Vicenzo lives on site, so in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong, he is only a short distance away. We found Vicenzo and his sons Marco and Roberto very helpful but unobtrusive.
We have made many friend in Santa Maria over the years. The town has plenty of restaurants and shopping and a chance to sample the Italian way of life. We can highly recommend Domus Cilento as a comfortable and very good value place to stay in Santa Maria

“Enjoyable Stay”
Reviewed 12 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

These apartments are set in a hill side, approximately 24 in all. There are lots of steps, but the views are breath taking. My wife found the accommodation a little too basic, these were ‘new build’ at some point but are now in need of some TLC. The kitchen and bathroom need ripping out and modernizing!! She was also disappointed that the towels were past their best and no hairdryer. Now the plus points, this is a beautiful, unspoilt part of Italy, and these apartments all have large sea view terraces with a table and chairs to enjoy lunch/dinner. A sort walk down the hill to Santa Maria de Castellabate is lots of late opening restaurants, lovely boutique shops and great for people watching. The swimming pool is very large, warm and well kept. Lots of nice sun beds, and all the guests were very friendly and mostly British. Our Italian host did a fun cookery class one early evening which was entertaining and delicious. Our children made friends instantly and by the end of the week several of us parents had dinner together while the kids played in the square. I really enjoyed the area, and would be happy to return here again.

“Family place located 15 minutes walk to superb beaches at Santa Maria.”

Apartments located in a pretty garden with swimming pool, perfect if you have children. However our apartment (located in an "upper villa" and though more expensive) was actually located on the ground floor of a two story villa. The "terrace" was more like a side pathway and the apartment was pretty dark and not clean (especially the bathroom!!!) upon arrival.
However, the pool area is great and compensated for the apartment.

“Wonderful place - what a gem!”
Reviewed 7 September 2011 for a stay in August 2011

The accommodation is lovely, the flat nice & spacious and although not heavily furnished, all that you need and all is very nice working order. Great large terrace, with lovely view over the town, fantastic swimming pool, nice gardens and very nice people. The hosts were ever so helpful and friendly and I was really impressed with all the nice little touches: plenty good quality sunloungers & umbrellas around the pool, lots of little toys (watering can, buckets etc) for kids, pool open till late, small playground for very small children, fussball table, etc - the type of things you have to pay for elsewhere and that made the difference in entertaining kids! Option to eat in some evenings too - wonderful food, otherwise great recommendations for restaurants (if you don't fancy cooking). And even free cooking classes some days! The location is great too - 5-10 min walk into busy little town (although a very steep hill, we managed with a buggy but might be difficult for some). The town has a lovely atmosphere, very busy with mainly Italian tourists in August, then much quieter. Some nice little beaches, and other beaches in easy reach by car. Overall, cannot wait to go back!
