This evening my husband and I stopped in the area to break up a long road trip. We searched for the best local food and wound up at Jagdhuette. When we opened our menus, we had no trouble in deciding what to order! We like to try as much as possible, so we got two of the best dishes to share. We started with the bacon dumpling soup and the garlic cream soup. I took one bite of the latter and immediately started googling for the recipe. For the main course, we ordered the venison in the wine sauce and also the beef with the crispy onions in a meat sauce. Everything was so tender and rich that it brought tears to our eyes. Do yourself a favor and pair the venison with a glass of local red wine! Even with the five-star food, I have to say the best part of our meal was our server, Chris. He helped us with recommendations on the best local dishes and stopped by frequently to joke with us. After a long day of driving, laughing and dining with someone so genuine and fun really topped off this dining experience. Chris, we will think of you every time I sneak a sip of my husband's beer without permission!
