Cottage was perfect for us - comfortable & homely. We lucked out with 4 great weather days so we enjoyed afternoons in the suntrap garden after walking or travelling about. Generous welcome pack included homemade bread, eggs, bacon, sausage, milk, brownies, butter & jam. Great location for a holiday - enjoyed a walk down to the River Wye from the doorstep, on to the Biblins & Seven Sisters rocks, then over & up to Symonds Yat, before a pub stop and the hand ferry back across the river. Also explored walks in Forest of Dean, plus toured Hereford Cathedral (Mappa Mundi), Tintern Abbey, 3 Castles loop in Wales, and then also Goodrich Castle. Would love to go back!

we stayed in the guest house 2 years ago while on a conoeing weekend, we got a lovely reception then and got the same when we stayed in the ciderloft cottage on our return for a hiking weekend. the cottage is excellent, clean, warm and well equiped. it is dog friendly with two enclosed gardens for the dog to roam around in. jayne and bill where great at recommending places to eat and drink (all of which where excellent). also recommended great walks for us and the dog. they also provided a very nice touch of a welcome pack so there is something to eat and drink after a long journey.we would highly recommend norton house to our friends and we look foreward to a return visit.
We stayed at the Ciderloft self catering cottage for 2 weeks. Bill and Jayne gave us a warm welcome and were very happy to suggest places to visit and share their knowledge regarding local restaurants, pubs, towns, walks and touring drives. Plenty of information was available from the main house and OS maps, walking guides etc were available to borrow. We also received a lovely welcome pack of provisions including home made bread, cake, sausages, eggs and bacon. The cottage itself is cosy, well appointed and very private. It is a good location to explore from. Symonds Yat and the river Wye are walking distance, so you can do lots of walks from your doorstep. Monmouth, Ross on Wye, Ledbury are all within easy reach as are the Black Mountains. A lovely place to stay. I would recommend to anybody who enjoys a country break.
