“Well equipped cottage in an idyllic location”
Reviewed 16 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

Everything you could want in this well equipped tidy cottage.
Even down to torches(vital when walking back along the riverside walk at night after visiting local pubs), batteries, spare light bulbs, binoculars, toiletries.cling film, aluminium foil etc and even a welcoming box of chocolates thrown in. There were lots of games such as monopoly scrabble, guess who, chess and draughts etc which my grandson loved to play with us.

Only a few minor negatives, the cottage was a little dark as the windows are small, and at the back of the property the trees and high bank reduce the amount of light coming into the rear. The windows were very dirty/dusty inside and out and if they were cleaner it would have helped. The settee was a little bit uncomfortable and could do with an upgrade.

The area is fantastic and there is lots of useful information in the cottage on places to visit and places to eat out. The area is very friendly both to people and dogs who are welcome in all the pubs even when eating. Enjoyed visits to Yat Rock with its fantastic views, Biblins bridge,Goodrich Castle,Tintern abbey Hay on Wye and the forest of Dean. Loved all the friendly pubs in walking distance. Loved coming back over on the hand pulled ferry from the Saracens Head.

Best food by far was served at the Ye Olde Ferrie Boat Inn we enjoyed a fantastic locally sourced Hereford-shire beef 16 oz T bone steak cooked to perfection served with wild mushrooms.

All in all a fantastic cottage which was value for money in one of the nicest quietest locations we have been to. To top it all the weather was warm dry and mostly sunny. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

“Sue's Cottage”
Reviewed 9 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We were very at home in Sue's Cottage, just a few minutes'walk away from the hand ferry. Justine has obviously anticipated all visitor needs and equipped the cottage accordingly. Beds were comfortable and bedding well-laundered. Thank you Justine! We highly recommend the cottage.

“Lovely, very well equipped pet friendly cottage.”
Reviewed 22 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We have once again thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sue's cottage with our 2 dogs. The only thing needed (and we did intend to bring with us, but forgot) is some mesh for the back fence to stop small dogs getting through, especially when the friendly neighbourhood badger comes to call!! The local pubs are friendly with superb food on offer. With lively walks all around. Hope to visit again sometime.

Management Response

Hello Sohnia. Many thanks for your great review and so glad you enjoyed it as much, second time around. I wasn't aware it was possible for any dog to get through the trellis fence, so thanks for pointing that out and will see if anything can be done. All the best, Justine
