“better than expected!”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 for a stay in March 2014

I would like to thank to owner Pnilip for unforgettable pleasant stay at his casa. Everything was just as or even better than expected! I certainly hope to visit Gaucin again. Felling of staying in casa Muneca was as we were in over one home or in home of a close friend. That is what makes it so different from other rental homes and what made over stay so pleasant. Great it was really! Best regards to Augustina as she did great jobb! Will shurely be back.

“Comfortable lovely house in a wonderful location with stunning views”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 for a stay in May 2013

We had a fantastic fortnight in this lovely, homely casa with its spectacular views and gorgeous sunsets. We had stayed here several years ago soon after we got married and vowed to return again as there were so many things about the casa, Gaucin and this part of Andalucía that we loved then and still love now. We loved the way the casa had been modernised but still retained its immense charm and the wonderful view from the terrace still remains as jaw dropping and if that was not enough there's the awesome sight of Eagles! soaring overhead. In the evening sitting on the terrace with a glass (or two) of wine, watching the sun sink slowly over the mountain, twilight starting to fall over the Mediterranean, with the lights of Tangier starting to twinkle in the distance, it hard to imagine a more enchanting and beautiful place to be. Wished we could have stayed longer in this magical place but for sure we are going to return!

“Would we stay again at Casa Muneca – absolutely yes!”

We stayed in Casa Muneca for a week at the end of October, being in the mountains initially we were concerned that it may be too late in the year and cold; but enjoyed warm sunny days and in the evenings found the house to be nice and warm with a log fire. Everything about the house was good (even very good) and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace sipping a glass of wine, ‘drinking-in’ the truly awesome views and watching birds of prey circling in the valley below and then soaring upwards.
The house whilst close to the center on a traffic free twisting lane and was very quiet apart from once when a string of donkeys / mules clip clopping past in the morning – unbelievable that in 2013 mule trains are still used for transporting goods in this mountainous part of Spain.
We found Gaucin not to be very touristy – and all the better because of it – there is a small local market, a delicatessens, a supermarket (where you are not allowed to touch the fruit before you buy it – amusing to see the assistants face when you try!), several smaller ‘local’ shops and far more bars than it was possible to visit and stay upright. As regards meals, there are several restaurants in the village varying from upmarket to more basic and of course many of the bars offer tapas and meals. The bars we visited in the evenings were filled with a mixture of locals and tourist and the food we had in these bars was, with only a single exception, very good. A car is necessary to visit and explore around Gaucin, as public transport is almost non-existent.
This had been our first time in this part of Spain in the mountains above the Costa del Sol and we will certainly return. Would we stay again at Casa Muneca – absolutely yes! For it was as far as we were concerned far better than just good and gave us clean, comfortable accommodation with a view that will stay with us forever.
