We've just returned from a weeks holiday in Alvor. First time visiting Portugal. We both had a thoroughly enjoyable time and both the hotel and it's staff were lovely.
The choice of food was exactly as you'd expect from any all inclusive hotel. It was always hot and well presented.
Drinks were served until 12 midnight (for free) or you could purchase further drinks from the hotel lobby bar until 1am.
There's a half hourly shuttle bus put on from the hotel to take you down to the beach daily. However, if you'd prefer to walk it took us 15-20 mins at a slow, leisurely pace.
The local shops, bars and restaurants are again roughly 15-20 mins away or €2.50 in an uber.
We ventured out every night, bar one. The evening entertainment put on by the animation team was focused on the children, which is great for them however, we don't have any therefore, we enjoyed drinks down at a few of the Irish bars.
The locals are very friendly and all speak good English.
Overall it was a lovely place to stay. Modern and clean. We would definitely return.

Hotel is generally clean and room would be the highlight of the hotel as it is clean and spacious however that is the main key benefit to the hotel.

Food and drinks is not what I would expect from a 4* all inclusive and is very basic, the food does not vary much from day to day with key offenders being pork, turkey and fish!! We could predict what would be on offer before going into the restraunt!

Staff within restraunt are like flies soon as you put your knife and fork down they are straight over to take the plate away!! few times I have told them we have not finished. Also the restraunt ran out of Cola and this was at opening time of dinner!!

Drinks within the bar have no menu's and the drinks provided within the hotel are beyond basic as most all inclusives you would expect soft drinks to be coca cola etc however within the 4* hotel Alvor Baia they use cheap local 'snappy Cola' and other cheap soft drinks. I have stayed in many other hotels all inclusive who will provide glass bottles of Coke or atleast draught coca cola!!!

The same applies with hot drinks which were very sweet and undrinkable - I spoke to the hotel manager regarding the drinks and he seemed tottally uninterested and replied no-one else have complained and did not offer an apology - I suggested a downgrade to self catering etc and he dismissed it immediately- would not compromise or offer any alternative. He stated this is all inclusive what do you expect? I would often travel all inclusive and have expectations this hotel just has rather low expectations.

Tried to book an excuraion with the reception of which i was quoted a price and when i returned to book and pay for it the price had increased? I questioned this and the woman was rather cheeky and unhelpful!!

As an all inclusive hotel avoid this hotel as there are better hotels out there that will provide a SERVICE. I will not return to this hotel within its current condition as there is better quality hotels elseware!!

I booked this in December for a early break and hopefully some warm weather with my nearly 15 year old daughter.
Given the advance planning I researched well including transfer from the airport as it is some 70km away.
The hotel transfer was the best value at €65 each way.
This worked well and a lot better than hoppa bus or taxi.

Upon arrival I was very impressed. Reception was well managed, spacious, modern and very clean.
Went to the room on the 2nd floor via a bank of 4 escalators-very impressive, each with views of the hotel as you rise. What I really likes as an experienced traveller was that the entrance to the rooms was on the inside not the outside, so very modern and clean, not rust coloured drips down white washed walls!
The room was amazing, large bedroom and a separate lounge/kitchen, bathroom modern and spotless.
Flat screen tv in bedroom and in lounge.
Slight moan #1-when having a shower the fan is useless and the bathroom steams up! That said the heating/air conditioning in the rest of the room is brilliant.
View from balcony spot on,I paid extra for the pool view and well worth it.

So to try dinner; good selection though slight moan #2-most nights the main meals were similar, the starters and deserts however were incredible, so much choice!
Slight moan #3-you have to go to a bar person for drinks apart from juice, the glasses are tiny and even then not filled.
So picture the scene, 2 of us, finish whatever course and go for the next, on more than one occasion returned to our table to find over zealous waiting staff have cleared our table, plates, full glasses of drink gone! Annoying!!

Slept well, beds comfortable which makes a change.
Some noise around but nothing major and we went to bed early.
Breakfast; again super choice though like so many all inclusive hotels the eggs are not cooked properly, not flipped=slight moan #4, and also the lady cooking them has an almost constant queue.

So to the wonderful pool area; absolutely fantastic. Clean, no shortage of sunbeds, pool bar open all day, staff fantastic (Rita, Jorges & Carmen are all brilliant).
Slight moan #5-outside toilets closed as refurbishing, okay early season but surely should have been ready? As a result one goes inside the hotel for the facilities there, no great pain but avoidable.

Lunch-basically the same as dinner so no complaints there, I have been on a massive diet and soon put on the pounds, food very good indeed.

Spa-level -2 there is an indoor pool with jacuzzi etc. lovely and of top UK spa quality, costs €10 each but worth it on a cooler day or even a hot one I guess. Plenty of treatments available at extra cost, the usual ones which we did not experience.

General area-you can walk to the amazing beach or get a bus or taxi, we walked which was fine but not advisable if you have little ones as you walk close to the roadside. The beach is simply knockout, with a boardwalk and places to eat and drink.

Overall the hotel is geared up for young families which we are not but still loved the place. There is a lot of entertainment during the day and from what I could see if you have primary school aged children you are in heaven here, they were loving it, well run sessions by super energetic and patient staff.
So not for the lads on the lash or the ladies for that matter, families, people who can take some noise and happy to see youngsters enjoying themselves.
The hotel is top, top notch, one of the best if not the best I have been to, therefore 5 stars despite the minor moans.

Room Tip: Pool view is better but not essential

Very clean and bright hotel.
Rooms are lovely and nice and big, Huge beds, big flat screen TV's and very clean. High floor and pool facing means you get a distant sea view also :-)
Nothing in the fridge? Being all inc I was expecting at least water??
Pool is a lovely size and great for Children as the main pool is walk in, very slippy though and witnessed a few falls. Plenty on Sunbeds. Small playground - Nice for children. Lots of daytime pool activities and sometimes DJ's playing and live music!
Food was ok, always something that you would like but a bit repetitive.
Very hot in the restaurants as most of it is a conservatory with no air con.
Not much evening entertainment for an all inc hotel but had a baby with us so often went back to the room after the mini disco.
Regular bus to take you to the beach - Always full though but only a ten min journey so not too bad. A nice 15 min stroll in the evening takes you to Alvor bars and restaurant plus the beautiful port.
Would absolutely stay again

I’ve already left feedback on the hotels site but for completeness I must highly recommend this hotel for any one looking to stay here, host an event here or book a large group here.

We had just under 40 guests stay here and I can’t fault the overall service we received mostly due to Paulo salvador Delgado who works in the hotel team. Nothing was too much trouble and he helped make our stay perfect. This is a long review for anyone considering a large group booking better than picking a tour company!

The rooms are exactly as pictured and offer the suite feel. Given our guests booked so many and each one was well kept in decor and cleanliness you can’t do wrong with a room booking here. We were upgraded to the amazing suite on the top floor which has the best view of the pool and of the sea and is stunning at night. It has 2 bedrooms a large open plan kitchen a huge lounge and dining room area and a lovely bathroom. It’s about 4 times the size of the standard rooms.

The pool speaks for itself and due to its size their are always free sunbeds dotted around and never too far from the bar and the games room was a nice addition for our guests with kids but one of the best facilities is the spa. Great value for the spa and if you book directly with the hotel you get even better discounts. Many guests booked treatments and enjoyed the indoor pool when they did. I had a massage and it was great. They also have shuttle services and Paulo helped us organise taxis for large groups when we wanted to get around.

Food was great with a good variety in both restaurants on site. We particularly enjoyed the BBQ nights. Plenty of fresh salad, veg as well as meats on offer. Tons of desserts and if it was not breakfast, lunch or dinner you had a snack option too which was mostly burgers etc but finished very quickly. We hired out a space in the restaurant one evening and were given sole access for an hour and our own space with added extras. It worked out better than expected and well worth it for the event we were hosting.

As mentioned we had a large number of guests as we renewed our wedding vows in nearby Vila Vita Parc but wanted an all inclusive for our guests to stay in and Paulo was amazing in bringing it to life. He helped coordinate all guests and their pick up and drop offs from the airport as well as the event we had in their modern and spacious hall (complete with projection screens private bar and entertainment team on hand).

We had an amazing stay here, we utilised in room dining, their steaming and ironing services. Private hire and much much more all to an exceptional level of customer service. It was the highlight of our year and I would recommend the hotel to anyone!
