An exceptional week spent at Will’s villa and trullo – we were 2 couples and stayed for a week in early September – one couple occupied the villa and the other the trullo so we had plenty of room. We were exhausted when we arrived so decided to stay in as the fridge was stocked to enable us to prepare a meal and wash it down with some of the refreshments also provided. All accommodation was extremely comfortable with comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and bathrooms and great outside areas for relaxing and dining. We had excellent weather during our stay which enabled us to take advantage of the large pool and its sunbeds. The property is very quiet and situated amongst an olive grove but within easy driving distance of Carovigno, Ostuni and Villanova where there are many fine restaurants. We loved the beaches which were a short drive away – Polignano a Mare where we saw people cliff diving from the vertical cliff tops and where we enjoyed their specialty – caffe speciale (coffee, lemon zest, sugar, cream, amaretto); Mezza Luna and its beach club – good food, fine sand and crystal clear water. We explored Puglia and would recommend visiting the towns of Matera – originally a prehistoric troglodyte settlement (where we hired a guide for a walking tour of Sassi di Matera), Lecce, Gallipoli, Locorotondo, Alberobello and there are so many more.
Will is an amazing host – nothing was too much trouble for him and we really appreciated his knowledge of the area for directions, shopping, dining and secluded swimming spots. We had the most fantastic time and we would highly recommend the property to anyone who is thinking of visiting Puglia – it is a wonderful location to explore this part of Italy.
We recently travelled as a group of friends to Will's villa which is peacefully tucked away down country lanes through olive groves between the two contrasting yet equally alluring towns of Ostuni and Carovigno. The villa itself was beautifully built and equipped, with enough space and grounds for there to always be a cosy corner in which to sit in peace. Although not located within a town or village of any description, the villa was a fantastic base for exploring, both by car and using the bikes that Will kindly provided and maintained for us. As well as the nearby towns, we especially enjoyed the local beaches and longer excursions to Matera, Lecce and the Salento Peninsula.
Though the standard of comfort at the villa and the beauty of its surroundings were striking, the standard of welcome from Will was the real feature that set this place apart from other local alternatives. Will had the kindness and patience to ensure we made the most of exploring the area's attractions and restaurants, and left us with a generous supply of provisions to get us going upon arrival.
Thank you Will for sharing your villa with us, and for being such a kind host.
This has to one of the most beautiful parts of Italy and Will, the owner of the charming Villa Acacia, was on hand to help and advise on all it had to offer, from shop and restaurant and cultural recommendations to which creepy crawlys one should avoid approaching!! The villa has been described earlier so I won't bother repeating just how charming it is. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and cooking facilities excellent. Will ensured we always had enough wood for the barbeque and dropped by with delicious local treats from the cake shop, he even located a fishing rod for my son to use. The pool was wonderful and beautiful looked after. As the property is tucked away amidst olive groves it makes for the most relaxing of holidays. If you want nightlife and excellent beachs, both are available within ten minutes from the villa.
Lovely retreat for all the family clean accommodation and reasonably well eqquipped. The charming host Will ensured basic provisions were in the villa wine, beer and groceries which was a lovely touch. In the main villa was a realatively small kitchen and 2 generous double ensuite bedrooms with spacious roof terrace above. Alfresco dinning although I'm inclement weather dining area would be a struggle. Sadly mosquitos tooba fancy to all the family mainly during meal times which was unavoidable. The separate truly was comfotabke and all bedding throughout was good. Four bicycles were available and frequently used. Although a car is a must the villa is off The beaten track. The pool was large enough but sadly in need of a clean. Cemmented walls and floor with lots of sediments in need of a vacuum which was disappointing Pool side loungers required and plastic drinks cups for the pool area. Ostuni, Lecce and Martina Franca are all well worth a visit. Relaxing times enjoyed by all.
Great location for a truly relaxing week. Villa is in character with the area with all the mod cons you could need for a perfect holiday. We ate out locally in Carovigno and Ostuni and also in at the villa. The rooftop table was superb for a sunny breakfast. with beautiful views. Will was the perfect host even arranging a cookery day which we thoroughly enjoyed. While we were in residence a little cat arrived looking very sad and beaten up. We think she had been abandoned. We fed and cuddled her back to health and called her Squiffy. She seems to like the Villa Acacia as her new home.
