The Ringhotel Gutshof Sparow is situated near to the motorway Leipzig Roststock in the lake region of Mecklenburg Vorpommern. The name indicates that this a former farm estate that has been remodelled as hotel. The hotel consists of the main building and various other farm buildings. The garden with a fish pond and a small chapel are ideal for a small walk in the countryside.
The main building is inviting elegant. The rooms are well appointed, but narrow. A small table with two wooden chairs just fits in, but there is no desk. Only German channels are on the TV menu. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom with shower cabin is clean and well maintained.
The loggia (winter garden) is used as restaurant. It is elegant but also cosy. There is a 4 course dinner on offer for guests that are on half board. Unfortunately there little choice on the menue card. Our deer ragout was overcooked and the game roast was dry with a very dark sauce probably originating from a sachet. The quality of the meals was unsatisfactory and did not correspond to the standard of the hotel. In contrary the breakfast was richly garnished with quality products. The speciality is the various kinds of herb teas that are offered.
The Wi-Fi connection did not work from the room. I was offered to check the internet in the Jägerstube that is used by smokers and as a pick nick room for cyclists.
The employees were polite and dedicated to serve the guests in their best ability, but apparently most of them were trainees and lacking professionalism. Overall it is a nice hotel in a tranquil location.
