We like smaller, more personal hotels for our annual ski trip, and this one fitted the bill perfectly. Traditional and quirky, run by the Forstnig family for 5 generations, we had a most enjoyable week.

Our comfort room was spacious, all we needed in the ensuite, with a fridge/minibar. Twin beds, but that's normal in Austria.

Breakfast is self-service, with fruit, cereal, toast, jam, cheeses, cold cuts of meat, and hot food, including freshly made omelettes with fillings of your choice. Proper coffee, and a large selection of teas. The dining area overlooks the garden and part of the nearby forest.

If we were in the hotel at lunchtime, it was good to partake of the buffet laid out in the lounge area, including hot homemade soup, salad, and various delicious cakes. Just the ticket when you've been on the cold slopes (minus 19 degrees when we were there...) all morning!

Dinner was ordered from a menu at breakfast, plenty of choice, and served by staff in Austrian costume. All spoke good English, particularly Andrea, Sebastien, Anny, Gianni, and the barman, Nino, from Sicily, who was very knowledgeable about drinks, and could shake up a mean cocktail. The wine list was good, and we availed ourselves properly...

Joshua on reception answered all our questions about the local area, buses, churches, restaurants, ski lifts, etc, and there was a good tourist information office in the middle of the town. Plenty of bars for nightlife if you wished, but we were happy to relax in the bar/lounge area after dinner.

The family who own the hotel were conspicuous by their availability to chat, especially Elisabeth, and her son Jakob, who both wore costume also. We took advantage of the offer to hire the hotel's Tesla X electric car for a morning, and happily raced around the local roads, showing off the gull-wing doors to open-mouthed tourists and locals alike. Very enjoyable, (the acceleration was VERY impressive) and a one-off experience that we probably won't have again.

The temperatures were exceptionally cold, but the snow was beautiful, and the skiing was good, and not crowded, no queuing for the lifts, which were close to the hotel.

All said, a lovely hotel, quiet, we think we were the only English guests that week, which suited us, very competent staff, we were touched by the be-ribboned candelabra on our table for breakfast and dinner, and a glass of bubbly for our anniversary.

No hesitation in recommending this hotel for couples and families alike. Well done, Inghams, for finding this one!

Room tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

We were made very welcome by the family and staff. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The spa area well equipped with lovely pool and jacuzzi. Food was excellent, breakfasts with plenty to choose from, complimentary soup and cake after coming in from the slopes and delicious evening meals, including farmers buffet on one night and seven course gala dinner on the another. We were lucky with the snow and were able to tour the whole area, simply beautiful. Very quiet, no English people at all, and no Apres Ski to speak of but we were last but one week in the season. Can't wait to go back.

This is a gem of a hotel the staff are excellent nothing is a problem for them. They have good english and prices are very reasonable beer cheaper than UK which was a surprise.
Spa facilities are good although it's a shock to the system for us reserved English in that the sauna and Steam facilities are frequented by naked people.
Jacuzzi and swimming pool excellent, robes towels etc provided. I had forgotten to take a costume so had to walk along the other end of the town to buy one. Maybe this is something they could add to their inventory.
Ski passes included in the cost of the hotel and these also gave access to a local Spa if you wanted to visit it. Although I have to say the hotel has a lovely clean wellness area.
The Skiing was great although there were some poor days I put that down to the time of year and would maybe go earlier in the season. The best Ski area is the St Oswalds side of the mountain - lots of long reds on both sides of the valley but lots of blues here which is good if your a mixed ability party. Ski bus timetabl had just changed which meant we had o change buses when travelling back to ski hire shop which was a bind. The hotel have an arangement with the ski hire shop to allow hire stuff to be left there which is great idea
Its lovely to see the staff in tradtional dress without looking twee decor is fantasic and food is very good and plenty of choice. Include in half board is afternoon tea of salad soup and cake from 1 - 4 pm so no need to eat on the mountains.

Room tip: we like the rooms overlooking the garden and stream

Very cosy hotel just two minutes walk from the slopes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding, a really impressive selection and very plentiful. Dinner was always nice and a couple of nights it was particularly good. Pool and sauna area was a big positive of the hotel after long days skiing. We would highly recommend this hotel for couples, groups, family's and singles a like, caters to all. Thank you Hotel Trattlerhof!
