I attended a wedding at this venue in December 2016 and was absolutely stunned at how beautiful it is. From the road and entering the premises, one cannot imagine what lies behind the rock formation. The reception is held next to the massive rock and it makes you feel like you are inside a cave, except you have splendid views of the West Coast and an amazing view of the setting sun.

The fairy lights and hanging lanterns gave an extra romantic ambiance. The food was a West Coast buffet with numerous choices of fresh seafood. Three different snoek dishes, seafood pot, freshly home-baked bread and jams, so many salads and a lamb spit. The team attending to guests was extremely friendly and helpful.

This venue is so completely different from the last few weddings I've been to. If you are in the market for a rustic, off-the-beaten-track venue, go for this one!

We were at a wedding reception which offered their standard buffet. The venue, surrounded by large rocks makes you feel like you're in a cave. It is truly a unique experience. The buffet is so traditionally West Coast. An abundant choice of fresh, home cooked food that was delicious and served by a really friendly team.

We used this restaurant and really enjoyed the dinning experience.The food is excellent and the husband & wife team are good company. This is a great experience to meet the people of the area and to taste the food that they prepare.

We visited Bosduifklip expecting something totally different, however, we had a good afternoon at the restaurant.

This is a VERY rustic venue of which every stone (except the really big one) was laid by Mr. Engelbrecht, the proprietor of the venue himself... No frills or bells and whistles.

Mrs. Engelbrecht does the cooking, and I think this is the primary reason for Bosduifklip's successful existence. The food is excellent in every aspect and Mrs. Engelbrecht does a great job in making the guests feel very welcome to their venue.

A few notes:

- this is not a restaurant you can just drive up to. You need to book in advance as the restaurant only opens once they reach a minimum level of bookings (I think 15 people);

- Bosduifklip is situated inland and is not another Muisbosskerm like restaurant situated on the beach;

- There is little to no mobile phone coverage (not that you should need it if you are there, but for doctors etc can be important);

- The food and drink is great value for money;

In conclusion I would recommend visiting this restaurant/venue with a big group of friends for a good West Coast time with good food and probably quite a bit to drink. If you don't like rustic, this is not for you.

The overall impression of this place is that it is a failing business - perhaps it is South Africa's premier rustic wedding location, but it's definitely not it's premier outdoor restaurant - for that, in my opinion, you should drive a bit further along the road to Muisbosskerm. For the cost, even with our beneficial exchange rate, it felt over priced based on the quality we have had elsewhere. There was a very limited selection of dishes, particularly hot dishes. The paella was very average. There was no fresh potjie bread or freshly fried fish. Considering it was New Year's Eve, the place was not busy at all. Perhaps it has a limited appeal / market? We were told off jokingly by the owner for speaking English (not Afrikaans) until his son-in-law pointed out we were from the UK. Also, perhaps as it was NY eve, there was a live band playing - who were not of a good standard, and somewhat disturbed the ambience of the evening! The staff were friendly and welcoming, the roast lamb was nice, and we liked the old ginger tomcat who enjoyed being fed titbits, but overall we left wishing we'd gone to Muisbosskerm again instead...
