What a brilliant cottage, great location and well equipped. I think Peter has thought of everything including the nice touch of the free range eggs, milk and bread. If you like walking, either serious or just strolling then this is the place for you, great scenery and the nights are so quiet, good for star gazing too. Don't want to praise too much as might not find a vacancy for our next visit.

This is our 3rd time at this lovely quaint cottage. The owner always makes us feel welcome and the cottage is dog friendly. Our dog loves his walks around the countryside. There lots of great places to eat and Holmfirth is a must place to visit. We can't wait to return, which will be soon.

“recharged in South Yorkshire”
Reviewed 16 March 2013 for a stay in May 2012

My wife and I spent a wonderful week in the Old School House last summer and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We don't get out of London much and it was my wife's first time any further north than Birmingham and we both loved our week in South Yorkshire. Peter was very helpful with directions and advice on travelling up, all done via email and with the minimum of fuss. The cottage itself was immaculate and well appointment and we felt very much at home in no time at all. We spent our days exploring the surrounding area and doing day trips into the Peak District. An all round enjoyable week that recharged a couple of jaded Londoners!

“Comfy, cosy cottage!”
Reviewed 13 March 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We had a perfect stay in this lovely old cottage in Carlecotes. It was bleak midwinter but inside the cottage we were cosy and warm with heating and a log fire, and we could dry off in no time after our trips into Holmfirth and Penistone. It's perfectly situated for jaunts to the Peak District and walks round the reservoirs, or culture & shopping in Sheffield & Manchester if that's your thing! The cottage is well kitted out, we had everything we could need, and the owner is very helpful and generous. We have stayed in a few places in the area but this is outstanding for the host's generosity and the cottage's homeliness! We'll be back this year!

“Perfect”
Reviewed 11 March 2013 for a stay in April 2012

Well what can we say ... After a stressful few years we were looking for the perfect hideaway and found it in the Old School House. If you are looking for character and charm and especially a log fire you are going to the right place. The cottage had everything you could possibly ask for - for a short or long stay, well equipped and comfortable. Only 5 miles from Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine) and the Old Bridge Hotel is the perfect place to dine. Peter is a great host, helpful but unobtrustive. The views are stunning and the peace and quiet was just what the Doctor ordered. We are looking forward to our next stay with a new addition - our little dog who we are sure will love it as much as we do.

In fact if we won the lottery we would offer to buy it off Peter!!!!!
