We stayed for one night in Akabeko on our trip from Krugerpark towards O.R. Tambo Airport.
I could say a lot but "whooooow" probably says it all.
Fantastic rooms, great food, beautiful environment and last but not least ...
Hosted by Lukas (hope I spelled it correct) and Monia as if we were at home.
Sometimes being spoiled feels great.
At Akabeko it felt like that for the four of us.

We stayed at Akabeko for 3 nights, it was simply superb. the service was fantastic, food delicious and accommodation magnificent. wish we could have stayed longer. we will certainly be back. The fly fishing was good fun and the rooms really allowed for some serious R&R.

Akabeko is a hidden gem between Lydenburg and Dullstroom. It's the perfect place to stay and celebrate a special occasion such as an anniversary or birthday. The service, venue, and food were incredible.

Staying over only one night was not enough in the pristine and modern units. My unit was number 6 which is situated right above the spa room and since I booked a hot stone massage, this was ideal. I thoroughly enjoyed my one night where the rush of water from the stream right in front of the unit provides calming white noise throughout the night. The pristine white bedding was plush and comfortable. I really enjoyed the heated floor in the bathroom and the spacious shower.

I had a lovely weekend in this very unique place, our own apartment-type lodge set in the treetops...with extraordinary gardens and high-end finishes. The place had only recently been taken over by Protea and had a brand new manager, so there were a few hiccups with the TV, no wifi (signal was very patchy to none), and a few other small teething problems - not unusual for a new place. We loved the privacy, the huge verandah and big folding doors, dinner served in our room, vast bed and the coffee machine....a beautiful setting and perfect for a quiet weekend (if you are not a golfer). I'm looking forward to going back as this place is pretty exclusive and special.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for reviewing Akabeko with such positiveness. Please allow me to clarify that the FORTIS group had taken over as managing company, not PROTEA.
We appreciate your comments and look forward to your return.

Kind Regards,
