Visited yesterday , a place of tranquility , and wonder around in peace .I am fortunate, its just a short walking distance from my home. This is not a place to visit after school time , because the local comprehensive school children are drawn to this ruin , to chit chat , and play , and enjoy . Early morning visits or late evening are magical .

Cadw have sensitively conserved the gatehouse at this castle and there is access to first floor level via a staircase and to one of the gatehouse towers interior. Only the gatehouse has really survived here apart from the keep remains on its mott and substantial curtain wall remains. In a lovely area, small car park.

As is usually found this is another dilapidated castle but the visitor experience is enhanced by a automated verbal history being available. This brings the whole castle and experience to life.
Well worth a visit if you are in Cowbridge.
Lovely views if Cowbridge too.

We visited this castle as part of a treasure trail. We had never been before but the children enjoyed listening to the history, climbing the old stairs and looking down on the local houses. Worth a visit!
