“Lovely stay in great location”
Reviewed 31 January 2012 for a stay in July 2011

Pen Fistla.
We stayed there last summer with my parents in law, and our daughter (aged 15 months).

Owners
Ceri and Rob are fantastic. Very Helpful and friendly. They live on site.

Equipment
The barn is well equipped, and the childrens toys in the barn and in the garden were a great bonus. My daughter had loads of fund with the tractors, footballs and toys in the house.

The barn
Very comfy, rooms are well kept and pretty spacious (for the budget). It warms up very well and was a good size for 4 adults and 1 small child. We put the travel cot in a doorway off our room.

The only tiny negative is the floors are creaky, so you could wake people up at night if you walked around... but this is an old building so should be expected really.

Location
Beautiful. Surrounded by rolling hills. The next door field had sheep in it and again my daughter loved seeing them run in and run around. You get to it by driving up lovely single track lanes. Very peaceful, and you can walk in about 10 mins to a local pub (which is good too)

Cowbridge
A nice little town that near by

Local Pubs
Generally a very good standard of pubs. My wife had one of her best every veggie meals in a pub. The Plough and Harrow in Monknash

Local Sites
There are plenty of things within 30 mins drive.

Overall. A very nice place to stay
Plus - Ocado deliver here!

“Comfort, luxury, charm and all you need for a holiday in pretty rural surroundings.”
Reviewed 27 July 2011 for a stay in June 2011

Ceri as our hostess could not have done more to make us feel welcome. She and her husband have created from a rustic barn, a modern and comfortable cottage in which there is plenty of space with its two bedrooms, large wet room bathroom, big living room with books, sky tv, fully-appointed modern kitchen. Yet history is all around you, with the stone walls alternatively whitewashed and left in its original state. One is aware of Roman stones in the wall, from their shape. Nothing was left to chance. Everything was there, and we were cosy and comfortable, with full use of the spacious patio and grassy lawn. Tasteful furnishings, comfortable bed and bedding, quiet and private, Pen Fistla Barns would suit either families or like ourselves, older couples. We could walk to the two pubs through country lanes in the woods down the hill. We could drive to Cowbridge easily to get any supplies, and enjoy its pretty shops.
We recommend this farmstay unreservedly. And there wasn't a fly in sight, even though there were blackfaced sheep and a few cattle nearby.
This cottage is very good value for money. We hope to return and recommend it highly.
