Allt Mor was a perfect cottage for two with substantial but cosy rooms, stunning views, tasteful furnishings & a beautiful little garden. We had a warm & helpful greeting from Ron & a lovely stay there for a week.
Allt Mor is situated on Glendale, in a very pretty valley. Nearby are a couple of cafés (including the lovely Red Roof Café), a tiny shop & post office & some interesting craft shops & workshops. There is a small jetty & a community centre which has a weekly market. Otherwise, it is very quiet. Skye itself is stunning - majestic, magical & stunning - & all the people we met were lovely.
It's worth knowing that, although Glendale is fairly centrally placed, the terrain, lochs & inlets make for a long drive to many places. Also, the lack of wifi sounds attractive but it is difficult to access information about opening times, routes, costs, etc. while you're there as it doesn't exist much anywhere!
Places we visited & enjoyed included Neist Point (where we saw a stunning sunset after a day of wind & rain), Dunvegan Castle, the Museum of Island Life, Jann's cake shop in Dunvegan, Stein & it's friendly inn, the coral beach (beautiful on a sunny day) & the Ullinish Country Lodge restaurant for the best anniversary meal ever!
This is a really wonderful, cosy & beautifully renovated cottage, in a perfect spot for a romantic getaway. We stayed for 4 nights to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We live only 60 miles away and have visited Glendale before, but the welcome we received at this cottage was superb. Cream filled muffins and wine chilling in the fridge, the wood burner already lit and the heating on. Josie showed us round and she & Ron are handy enough next door if you have any questions (which we didn't, as they've thought of everything including easy instructions for cooker heating etc). The lounge is so cosy with the wood burner blazing on a stormy night, and the bedroom was warm & very comfortable - the added bonus of a skylight above the bed to star gaze on the 2 clear nights we had was awesome. I could go on & on.....we just can't rate this place & it's very welcoming & considerate owners highly enough!
After a very long drive to Skye we finally arrived and was welcomed warmly by the owner's who were both very lovely and explained everything we needed to know about the cottage. The cottage was beautiful inside and out there wasn't one thing we didn't love. And staying in the cottage with its idyllic Location made our Christmas.
We will definitely not hesitate to stay again. And thank you to the owners for making us feel very welcome.

December is a magical time to visit Skye as the quality of the light is so beautiful. Here in this fascinating crofting settlement there are stunning views and beautiful sunsets. This snug traditional cottage (with every modern comfort) is a very special place to stay. The informative and amusing notes from Ron and Jo on where to visit and what to see and their thoughful kindness to make our stay special was greatly appreciated. All their excellent reviews are well deserved. Allt Mor Cottage is a perfect holiday destination.
