Benmore cottage is well equipped and sits in a wonderful situation, looking down over Loch Shin.It is surrounded by wildlife. It is in a superb position for exploring the northern highlands, east and west coasts,it's wildlife and scenery.I felt perfectly safe, travelling around on my own, even walking in woodland. You have shops near-by, petrol station(essential that far north in Scotland)

Just left the cottage this morning. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage. It was well equipped, very comfortable to stay in. Had 6 very full days sightseeing. Set in a beautiful area and we're lucky enough to see the Salmon jumping at Falls of Shin. It was a pleasure to get up in the morning and sit and have breakfast looking at the stunning view.

“Relaxing getaway”

We stayed at benmore cottage in October, no problem to find or park. Very comfortable cottage in a beautiful location overlooking the hills and loch.
It's relaxing to escape the hustle and bustle of a city and be surrounded by nature instead of cars and people. Whether you like animals or birds you are guaranteed to spot some woodland friends.
We liked biking and walking in the forest, the waterfalls are amazing and we watched salmon jump too.
There were some nice restaurants in the village. Definitely try the pier restaurant for an afternoon cake.

Would love to go back this summer as the cottage is great value. Lots of walking we didn't manage and need to visit the whiskey refineries!

If you want a relaxing break, like nature and being outdoors then this is the place for you!

“Benmore is a really comfortable cottage.”

Clean and tidy cottage ideal for getting away from it all. Steep stairs to the bedrooms may not be suitable for older people. Memory foam mattresses to all beds and excellent blackout made for very good nights sleep. Steep access drive and limited parking space make this unsuitable for cars with a longer wheel base. E.g. - estate style

Thank you for taking the time to review Benmore Cottage and for your kind comments. The blackout blinds were our very first improvement to the cottage, and the new mattresses our most recent! It's good to know you found them comfortable. We do acknowledge that the parking space is fairly tight as we are restricted by the adjacent forest, but we are able to park our current estate car, as we could our previous 4x4. We have had more practice! Most of our guests appreciate the ability to 'get away from it all' in Sutherland, many of whom are of the older generation, and several of our most regular guests are active octogenarians! Once again, thank you for your feedback, we do genuinely appreciate your review.
