When we arrived to Woodstock we were all so excited and taken aback by its character and size. Greg and Paula had even decorated the house with 2 Christmas trees and plenty of lights so it felt very festive and left us a welcome basket with lots of very useful things. The location is perfect for anyone visiting Broadstairs, the house couldn't be in a better part of town in our opinion and we know Broadstairs quite well.
The kitchen is so well equipped with all you might need during your stay and the appliances are very easy to use. Plenty of space to store food and drink with a large fridge/freezer. Be careful with the kitchen sink as the overflow isn't plumbed in!
No complaints on the comfort of the beds - we all slept really well. Each bedroom is so different from the other and beautifully decorated. The only downside upstairs is the toilet in the ensuite which was 'out of order', which meant we had only a single toilet upstairs for 8 people. There is a small downstairs cloakroom but to make it perfect would be to have a working ensuite toilet. The main bathroom has a large shower and free standing bath - again the overflow isn't plumbed in and the shower tends to spray all over the floor despite towels and mats. We even had water coming through the ceiling at one point, but apparently this happens. Despite this the owners of Woodstock are so welcoming and accommodating making the stay more pleasurable and easy for a busy family. Thank you so much Paula and Greg, we had a wonderful Christmas in Woodstock which meant so much to us all. We will definitely be back in the Summer to make the use of the beach hut!
The large quirky house is conveniently located so near the beach it is easy to walk to any number of bays along the viking trail running below the house.Tthe cliffs are stunning and beaches first class. I don't think we have ever seen such well kept beaches. A trip on the boat to see the wild seals was a highlight and even though most days the weather was aweful this year, we still found things to do and returned refreshed.

We spent a lovely relaxing week at Woodstock as an extended family group aged between 21 and 70 and though initially quite surprised when we arrived we soon warmed to and appreciated the very individual taste of the owners which was reflected in the decor and furnishings.
The "Welcome" message, basket of goodies, particularly the bottle of wine!, and vase of flowers on the table on arrival was a lovely thoughtful touch and much appreciated.
All the rooms are very large so plenty of space for everyone to spread out and find their own space to relax in but also plenty of comfortable seating in both lounge areas for everyone to socialise together.
The lovely modern kitchen is very well equipped with a huge range cooker, fridge freezer and dishwasher and everything else you could possibly need for your stay.
The 3 double bedrooms, one has an en-suite, are very spacious and all too very different in tastes of furnishings and decor. The other 2 bedrooms are also a good size, one a single and the other a small double / large single. We all slept very well in the comfortable beds!!
There was a large family bathroom with a walk in shower, the only downside would be that with a large family group a separate shower room would be an advantage as it took a while for everyone to get ready when going out.
The house is a short stroll away from Viking Bay where the owners have a lovely beach hut which we used every day, it is well equipped and situated close to the cafe/ bar and toilet facilities and also near the lift for ease of access up and down to the beach, a necessity for the elderly members of the group as there are a lot of stairs to climb otherwise!
There is a very handy little shop just down the road that sells newspapers and freshly baked bread every day along with almost everything else you may need though the High Street and more shops are just a little further down the road. Apart from a weekly shopping trip to the supermarket we did not use our cars at all as there are plenty of lovely restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.
All in all we all really enjoyed our stay, the owners Greg and Paula were very kind and helpful and left lots of local information to help us make the most of our stay in Broadstairs.
If you like to stay somewhere that is a bit "different" this is the place for you and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we did, you may also become a fan of antique shops and car boot sales!!
Thank you Greg and Paula I know we will visit Broadstairs again sometime and if we come as a large family group will definitely consider staying at your lovely house again.
