What an absolutely beautiful hotel Kouros Village is. Painted white with blue shutters and doors, beautiful archways and flowers. A real gem and without doubt one of the prettiest hotels I’ve been to.
Excellent location too - turn right out of the hotel and you’re at the beach in two minutes where there’s gift shops and a good choice of restaurants, turn left out of the hotel and a few minutes you’re at the main road for supermarkets, bars and restaurants. All in all it’s quite a quiet and peaceful area.
All the staff we met at Kouros were very respectful and helpful and the hotel communal areas (and pool) were spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned every day and clean towels etc given, it was stylish and perfect for our needs.
Breakfast was served on the terrace and the breakfast waiter did everything he could to make sure you enjoyed your breakfast experience. The coffee was great! Good choice of hot and cold breakfast and a lovely setting too.
Pool is a good size and no pounding music all day adding to people’s ability to relax. I personally think a few more sun-beds could be added as sun worshipers always ensured ‘they’ had the beds in the sun and there is room for a few more.
We took the half board option. You are given vouchers to have either lunch or dinner each day. Lunch can be taken at one restaurant on the sea front or a hotel close by on the main road. And dinner taken only at that one restaurant on the sea front. This would be my ONLY negative comments about this holiday. The restaurant clearly prefer the guests using the restaurant that are not with vouchers (on the half board option) and were actually unfriendly/quite rude and there’s many options on their regular menu you can’t choose unless you pay extra money. I’ve not calculated if it’s actually saving much money taking his option but if I returned, I most certainly wouldn’t do this. There are many lovely restaurants to choose from, we went to a Greek night in one a few along one night - their food was amazing. The lunch option on the other hotel was nice and we were made welcome.
On the beach, if you walk left towards the mountain you can catch a boat (5€ each way) to kamari. Which takes about ten mins each way.
We went on the trip to Oia organised by Tui. It was quite a long day and very hot but so worth it as very picturesque and the sunset was stunning.
I would most certainly recommend this hotel, without hesitation, to anyone looking for a peaceful break in a pretty well kept and traditionally Greek Hotel.
