There are many beach resorts along Batu Ferringhi Beach, but if you step into these resorts, you shall notice that most guests prefer to stay in the garden of the hotels. The reason is, that Batu Ferringhi beach is not comfortable. The sand is sharp, very often there is jellyfish warning and the beach has diminished. Compared to the shape of the beach before the 2004 tsunami, the shape of the beach has changed substantially. Furthermore it has been pummeled by storms during the period since 2004, so enormous amount of sand have disappeared. When I was visiting Batu Ferringhi in January 2015 , a project was started recently to restore the beach by bringing huge amounts of sands onto the beach by ship. Batu Ferringhi Beach is of course public beach according to Malaysia law. Water sports operators with parachute rides, banana boats and water scooters are in evidence, also counters where you can get a foot reflexology massage. But personally I found it more comfortable in the resort garden. On the sun lounger. Under the palm trees.
