I can not say enough about my great stay here. Lisette was especially nice with very attentive service @ Rumboat Retreat. I will be definitely be returning. I stayed at Rumboat for three nights and enjoyed the food, the rum talks, day trips and great service.

The staff was WONDERFUL, the food was amazing. Only wish we had booked our entire stay at this delightful "retreat". We will definitely return. Dinners were delicious and very ascetically appealing. Our host went out of her way to help us plan outings and transportation. DELIGHTFUL.

Room Tip: Ocean view, all rooms are quiet and clean

We're still talking about the wonderful, beautiful time we had at the Rumboat Retreat. We stayed there for our fifth anniversary and had the time of our lives. The location is perfect--close enough to what you need and yet remote enough for some privacy. Our room was perfect and in great shape. Her staff is wonderful---we actually befriended almost all of them by the end of our trip. The coconut bread and other items are out of this world. The food is fresh and delicious. Lisette and her staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and went out of their way to help us schedule activities such as Fish Friday or horseback riding. Lisette truly knows everyone in town and we felt great assurance trusting her and following her guidance. She made us fall in love with her island. Sadly, my husband lost his phone during the trip and as much as we hated pestering Lisette, she was incredibly helpful and sweet in trying to help us and in no moment did she seemed annoyed or bothered (thank you again, love!) I would love to go back to Grenada one day and if I do, I already know where we'll stay. Please don't hesitate any longer---you will have a wonderful time swinging on a hammock chair seeing the Grenadian sea from the Rumboat Retreat :)

Room Tip: No street lights on main road during night. A bit of a walk to the hotel, but nothing you cannot manage :)

The house is nice and very clean. Bar is fully stocked and meals were exceptional. Lisette is the best guest host. She gave a lot of good advises, organised tours for me, she even got to open the chocolate factory, that was closed because of public holiday, only for me!
The rum masterclass with Lisette was amazing, she is passionate, knowledgeable and able to explain difficult things in a easy way. Highly recommended!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Rumboat Retreat. It's a villa in the middle of the jungle, close to the town of Gouyave, just off the main road, but still quiet and very natural (you will hear the sounds of all kinds of animals round the clock). The rooms were clean every day, even after we got it quite dirty from all the sand from the beach or mud from the hikes. In addition to the 4 bedrooms, there is a common living room with a kitchen, a bar, a sofa and books.

Lisette, Mario and Christlyn were very helpful and hospitable, and made us feel at home. You can ask anybody for good suggestions what to do each day, and they'll be able to give you some insider tips on locations and activities, some which only a local would know about and you won't have read anywhere on the internet. Lisette helped us with organising a rental car upfront, also also helped with contacting locals for various activities. Christlyn makes a very nice breakfast every day, the fruits are picked fresh every day from the garden surrounding the house (papayas, mangos, bananas, oranges...). For dinner, Mario dishes up very tasty and extraordinary creations. If your into rum, the bar is full of all kind of different rums.

Couple of things to note:
- The standard breakfast that is included in the booking price features fruits, joghurt and 2 fresh buns with jam. As Germans, we're used to having savoury breakfasts. For an extra of ~12 USD, you can order additional things for breakfast, which are very tasty!
- Gouyave is in the West of the island. If you plan on driving around the island, it's a good compromise to get to different parts of the island. If you're planning doing many activities which start in St George's, be aware that you will need to drive 30-50min. In general, you need to plan for time on the road if you want to go anywhere. As a non-Grenadian, calculate with an average speed of 30-40 km/h on those roads.
- The mattresses in the Retreat are very hard. If you like it hard, it should be fine. For me, they were just about comfortable enough, for my partner it was way too hard.

All in all, we really liked our stay in the Rumboat retreat, it was just a little more expensive than what we have expected it to be. However, holidays in Grenada in general was more expensive than what we expected, so I guess it's normal for this country? My feeling is that prices in Grenada are comparable to those in the US, which is more than what we Germans are used to.

Zhizhou F,
Thank you very much for your feedback!.
Such valuable insight and thought went into this review,
You will be pleased to know that since this review we have made a few small changes to our continental plate.
We now include cold meats and cheese.
But we kept the fruits.
So thank you for that small but important detail.
We try to keep cost in mind but the cost of produce here in Grenada is generally high and that really stems from our government taxes.
To combat this we try to operate with absolute minimum of imported products which is really hard on such a tiny island with small industrial infrastructure,
We will keep pushing at it and looking for ways to reinvent our pricing structure.
I do hope you return to Grenada
and we thank you for all of your support.
Regards
