Entry is €6 for and adult, parking plentiful and free. This is a well preserved site with minimal “restoration” and is free from the crowds of Knossos. Many of the information boards are blank which was a shame as I would like to have learned more but the board and small museum at the entrance provided enough detail to allow appreciation of the site. Some areas under cover for protection.

Much less frequented than Knossos but just as interesting. Well worth a visit because there are less people getting in the way so easier to get an idea of what you are looking at. There is obviously so much that hasn’t yet been excavated but that just leaves a tantalising idea of what else could be there.

This is where the Malia Bees jewellery was found. A beautiful piece that almost every jeweller in the area recreates in earring and necklace form.

Go see the place!

Nice slice of history, very interresting even for 9-year old. Nice bench area in shade for break. Close to Potamous beach to cool down after hot walk around.

Randy and I were so impressed with the Minoan people and their life so many years ago. We are talking thousands of years. There were very advanced for the time. The most important to me was their love of peace. Getting along, being supportive, caring for their people. They were so kind, it sounds like it ended up with their people dying out. So many peoples needing to conquer and rule others. They did not.
