“Charming quaint old house in charming quaint village”

First impressions are not a real guide. This house suited our group. 6 friends( aged 65 to 78) travelling from Australia. Stayed 4 nights. We stayed in the studio and the other 4 in the main house. The studio is great, very roomy and comfortable.Good appointed kitchen and charming downstairs entertaining area. The location to the nearby Carcassonne town and historic site is great. It is not a crowded village by any means, very quiet. Charming WWI memorial in the village. Short drive to other attractions and supermarket. It was a great location to dine at the nearby Chateau, walking distance. Quite a few steps to manage suitcases up to all the bedrooms. Therefore older travellers need to be reasonable fit or have small suitcases. However older travellers would definitely appreciate the old charm ambience.

Thank you for your comments. Am glad you found the house spacious and charming
Good point made about the stairs...I will mention in my notes that small cases advisable as the top floor involves negotiating two flights of stairs and a couple of bends!
Many thanks! Chloe

“A wonderful few nights in a very authentic French Cottage, in a typical French Village”

Everything about this stay was great. We were three couples and all enjoyed the atmosphere and relaxed feeling. The owners directions and helpful hints were spot on and the village was so peaceful and yet close to the sights of Carcassonne. It is highly recommended.
Agree with other comments. Sitting in the courtyard sipping a glass of wine is an experience we will not forget and also the gourmet meal we had at Chateau de Cavanac wil be long remembered.

I loved our short stay in this charming old house in Cavanac. One of my enduring memories of France will surely be sitting in the courtyard sipping a glass of wine while birds swooped and dived against the twilit sky.

The village shop was helpful and welcoming which was good as we discovered the chateau didn't open for dinner until 8.00pm! Luckily, the home was well-equipped to handle such emergencies for hungry travellers.

“Perfect holiday home!”

We had a fantastic week away; the whole family loved the house We could easily have spent a fortnight here.
The house is welcoming and spacious with good size rooms and comfy beds. It feels much more like a family home than a holiday let. The views from the top floor bedroom are fabulous. The house is old and built with thick stone walls to keep out the heat- perfect in the summer.
The delightful courtyard is filled with flowers and; geraniums it is completely private. There is a large table which easily seated seven of us for evening meals (another large table indoors). In addition there are loungers and a BBQ. We made full use of the dart board in the garage!
Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived.
Every morning the 'bread lady' announces her arrival with a siren blast and sells delicious fresh bread, croissants and pastries from the back of her van. The village shops has all the basic supplies you need. The local wine co-operative is within easy walking distance and they are happy to let you sample wines before buying! The village is so friendly and peaceful.
There are masses of places to visit nearby. The sun shone and we enjoyed swimming in local lakes and the river at Lagrasse. Great choice of local restaurants both on the doorstep and within easy driving distance.
You do need a car to get around but parking is not a problem in the village and so many places of interest are on the doortstep.Carcassonne is a quick and easy drive.
We all hope we can return soon!!

Fantastic, comfortable, relaxing house. We had a wonderful week in this great little village. Everyone very friendly. The house had every amenity one would need. Chloe, the owner, was very helpful prior to our trip and I would definitely recommend - and return.
