Second stay at ''the Hill'' this time pure R&R after an exhausting 7 day walking trek in the Wild on the edge of Kruger. Just love the place, people and flexibility, Horses are amazing and cater for all abilities, getting really close to many different plains game plus the Rhino's and Cape Buff is special. A Leopard was actively feeding when we were there, but as in the real wild bush hard to see, but fun to check the prints and see the red back jackals on the left overs.
Conservation is the game here, its sad but necessary to have armed protection for the White Rhino's and ''Save the Waterberg Rhino and Tusk'' need to be supported, also very interesting to chat to their protector, Echo/Bravo anonymous and passionate about their survival. The breeding Prog' for Sable and Roan Antelope are also very interesting. Actively helping in animal capture also very interesting seeing the vets dart and then the logistics of tracking and re-location. All part of real time conservation and animal protection.
Great place for kids to explore and learn in reasonable safety, one party were chased by the Buff on bike's but that's all part of the experience, and there is always a tree some where to hide behind or climb!
Great staff, if you want to learn about bugs/trees/bushes etc they will teach you.
I would add a ''Game'' menu alternative daily (pre order), its good for us European's to try the local bush meat, my partner and I love it and the Chefs cook it well (Springbok Carpaccio, Wildebeest Schnitzel etc) bring it on.
Ant's Hill/Nest has something for everyone, you wont see the Big Five but you will have an amazing experience and you can choose to hang out with the other guests or live in splendid isolation on your own private terrace.
Go take a look, well worth the experience.
