This upscale resort is located on beautiful beach far away from any other resorts and restaurants. You better make sure you come here with good company - because it is pretty much going to be you with them for the duration of your stay. You will be about 40 minutes away from the other restaurants located on the other end of Ngapali beach.

Bungalow style living in a lush garden close to the water - regardless if you have waterfront location or not. Comfortable beds, huge bathroom. Mini bar in the room.

Descent size pool. The beach is pretty much yours. Bicycles for rent.

A pool bar and restaurant on the premises. Food price similar to the upscale hotels in Yangon. This is a higher end resort so be prepared to pay about $15-$18 per head for lunch and $25-40 for dinner, excl. drinks. Great nice service from staff coming from the local village.

The beach is simply amazing and it is the draw. You come here to relax, to spend time on a beautiful beach with the people or person you love and want to spend private time with.

Nice touch with the GM greeting you as you come to the property.

If you want a naturally clean beach just in front of your bungalow, this is the place to go. Amara Beach Resort is paradise-like and perfect for relaxation.

Many accurate and useful information has been given by other reviewers, so here are my main comments, after a second 8-days-stay in Amara Beach Resort (first stay two years ago) :

1. Location and ambient of resort are peaceful. Very large beach right in front: this is what makes the place unique. Second hotel some 1.5 km away in construction but it will not be as charming and not of any harm to the peace of the place.
2. Bungalows are comfortable, clean and have all the amenities you would need - but low and unsatisfactory wi-fi and - remember - no TV. Bungalow types : there are 14 beach FRONT bungalows (which means : first row, beach is 10 m away!! unique); 9 Sea-View Bungalows which means second row but still very nice; 2 Duplex Bungalows also second row, + 1 royal villa a bit isolated to the North and beach-front.
3. They experienced management problems over the last two years, but the manager who had been developping first the resort is back. We are absolutely confident he will fix everything again. He will do anything possible to please the clients - for sur you will meet him, he greets new clients within one day of their arrival.
4. Yes, restaurant prices were high and cuisine not always of quality. Room service price list enclosed to give you an idea of price levels. Prices for wine far too high! But the price of the dishes is what you pay for in similar resorts in the world and in many European cities, without this absolutely incredible surroundings - garden, palmtrees, stars in the sky, beachfront, no noise...
5. Spa is very good with reasonable prices compared to similar resorts. Very good male therapist available as well as many female members of the staff.
6. Remember they hire people from the villages around. So their English may be poor but won't your patience be for a good cause? I would accept many imperfections if it is to help people of the village take advantage of tourism industry.
7. Having dinner elsewhere is not that easy : you have to pay the taxi (overpriced) and the road is very bumpy on the first 3 kms. But there is another option : a small beach restaurant not even 5 minutes walking to the North, very fresh fish/seafood and some other dishes, very easy to access, serving wine at reasonable prices, charming people. Dinner under a sky of stars, nothing around, feet in the sand ...
8. Pool is perfect for swimmers (20 m long, 10 wide), water sometimes a bit cold in the morning.
9. I do not think the resort is a good choice for families. There is not much infrastructure for kids and the general ambient of the resort will not put parents at ease.
10. Choose another place if you want : many options for dinner and shopping within short distance and/or easily accessible entertainment

Room Tip: Refer to my text "Bungalow types"

Many smiling staff are on hand, beautifully detailed teak built lodges amid stunning gardens. Wonderful pool and private five mile beach. This is the place to be in Ngapali. Everything you could wnt pewsided over by the charming and highly experienced general manager U Myint Htoo.

Room Tip: The beach side villas are more expensive and guests tend to wander in front. Better to have the raised up, beach view villas

Stayed here for five days and enjoyed the beach which is absolutely fantastic. The hotel is north of the airport and isolated form the touristy area of Ngapali.

The beach is beautiful and so are the bungalows. The only drawback is that the bungalows are not kept up to scratch on a daily basis. Dishes are not removed, toiletries not replace and there is a lack of attention to detail.

The food is average and overpriced. A bottle of water for $5.00 is a bit too much when you can get for .$0,50 on the beach.
