Unfortunately some of the trails including Uncle Tom’s were closed for restoration.

However Artists view was open and is one of the best viewpoints

This hike was beautiful! The colors in the canyon wall and the overlooks to see out are fantastic. We started at Artist Point which was overrun with tour buses and crowds and got off the beaten path taking the Ribbon Lake trail. Instead of following to ribbon lake we went toward Point Sublime. It was an easy trail with several stops to take pictures along the way if anyone in your group gets winded.

This was one of our favorite hikes. It is not for those with a fear of heights. Unfortunately, this was one of the few trails open on the Yellowstone Grand Canyon.

This leads to Artists Point, which is the best place to see the Lower Falls. When we visited, the North Rim Trail to Inspiration Point, which might have competed, was closed, as was Uncle Tom's on the South Rim. Spend your time at Artist's, and just more quickly check out the other viewing points.

Park at the Uncle Tom's parking lot, do Uncle Tom's trail then continue along the South Rim trail until you get to Artist Point. Beautiful views along this easy stretch of trail! We then continued onto Clear Lake before heading back to the parking lot, making a loop of a couple miles.
