I liked how on the hike you could see both the ocean and the huge mansions. There were some parts with rocks which make it challenging for young children or seniors. There were tidal pools which were very neat. I would recommend bringing a lunch. Don’t get intimidated by the non paved spots. They were not difficult.
A must do.

My wife and I were recently in Newport for a day as one of the stops on our cruise. We bought a local bus pass and headed to see The Breakers. After the home tour we walked directly to the Cliff Walk. Each view around every turn continued to amaze us. The views of the sea and the local homes was simply incredible. Sidewalk and steps were in very good condition and great for everyone

We were short on time, so we did the walk from Narraganset to Ruggles. Was able to find street parking luckily. It’s a long walk along the cliffs ( fenced in ) no danger. Mansions along the path were decadent. If you enter near first beach, good luck finding parking. You have to park in the beach lot and walk a bit or find street parking which is rare in summer. That’s why we drove to Narraganset st ( ave). Public restrooms along the way. In nice breezy weather, it’s a great outdoorsy thing to do.

Wear comfortable footwear and walk till you drop! The walk has the most beautiful views of the ocean. Most of the walk is on an asphalt path yet other areas you walk on the rocks, there is no path. Challenging and not recommended for elderly, young children or handicapped. Yet do not get discouraged, there is a lot of safe walking for all ages and places to sit down and enjoy the scenery. When in RI this is a must and a nice way to see the ocean side of the mansions

We thoroughly enjoyed our hike this morning on the Cliff Walk. I visited here 18 years ago and longed to return ever since. I highly recommend walking the trail, but remind you to use the restroom prior to do so as there aren’t bathrooms along the path.
