We booked a room at the Howard Johnson on Boston Rd for our grandson's college graduation. The hotel look just like the one story, spread out ones of the 1950's. We wondered what it would be like inside. As it turned out, it was fine. The room was large. Not the kind of walking sideways around the queen beds that we have seen at newer hotels like Holiday express. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The building was dated, true, but the staff was very helpful. Whoever had the room before us had disconnected the phone. It was plugged in again. It was so roomy that it was a pleasure moving around in it. The only suggestion we have is that it would be nice to have an outlet where the the table and chairs (yes, more than one) are located for our computers. An important consideration is that the rates were reasonable. They were what we have found to be normal at other hotels, including Hampton Inn, on other trips. The other hotels in the area had jacked up their prices for the dates around the granduations at the local colleges. A regular room is $240 at the other hotels. Twice the normal rate. That does not seem right. So, yes, we would recommend the Howard Johnson Motel on Boston Road by Wyndham, Springfield, Ma.
I have noticed that reviews have to be verified on other sites so I wonder if the ones for this site are. Our experience is so different that one wonders if the bad reviews we have seen are planted to put down a hotel that is not ripping off the customers.
