It’s a fascinating museum full of unbiased history of how the Spanish Explorers came to what became New Mexico and the history of the Pueblo Indians and how they were treated over the last few hundred years. We had an excellent tour guide who both enlightened and educated us with her new found knowledge of New Mexico. By the time we left the museum I was stunned by how our country had treated the Spanish Indians who lived here for centuries! There are also other very interesting exhibits including one on the development of the atomic bomb and the scientists who worked on it during WW2.

Originally built in 1615, this was an amazing exhibit. Had several sections of floor cut-outs (covered over with glass) so you could see down a level into some of the oldest sections. Very interesting historically. Excellent gift shop. Ticket gains you access all day. Loved the local Native American artists that line the south facade with their handmade art and jewelry. Be prepared to bend over as it's all displayed down on blankets on the sidewalk.

This museum is well set up and very interesting. We loved the special exhibit regarding the atomic bomb.

My only complaint is that there are tours but they aren't posted on the website. You just have to hope they will have one when you go or perhaps call ahead, they said their tour times vary which is why they aren't posted.

The current display about the atomic bomb was very interesting and informative. I would strongly suggest a visit. The free tour was time well spent and I learned a lot.

For someone with little knowledge of this amazing area this was a very useful way of getting an idea of how New Mexico and its populations have changed over the centuries. The time lines were helpful and the exhibits very interesting. A must for first time visitors!
