This place was spectacular. Helpful staff, awesome New Mexican style breakfast, wine and cheese happy hour in the afternoon. An owner who was present and engaged with his guests and clearly cared about the facilities. Perhaps best of all is they offer a dedicated shuttle service to anywhere within 3 mile radius of the Inn and they can also come pick you up. I can't recommend this place enough for a quaint stay in Santa Fe. Amazing stay.

Great place to stay. The hotel is within walking distance of the shopping area. The room was very quiet. The service was excellent. There was a wide choice for breakfast and everything we tried was delicious.

We visited in October a couple of years ago & we had 5 people (2 females/3 males) who played Division I NCAA in college & needed the WHOLE 76 inches in width for an American or Canadian Standard King Bed but the beds are NARROWER by at least 2 inches without having the added length like a California King. The furnishings in many of our Suite & Deluxe rooms were either antique or custom which may explain why the claim it's a KING bed which we needed but sleeps more like a EURO KING which is 63 Inches wide & 80 length. These NON- Standard "KING" mattresses slept just a bit wider than a Queen.

Whether you have a big, tall athletic couples (we had 2) or Granny & Grandpa promised to let the 3 year old sleep with them THESE NARROW KING BEDS WON'T WORK. We thought about getting another room but there were no Double Queen rooms available after we checked in & another couple of hundred bucks per night for the remaining days of our stay wasn't really a good option after dropping a good amount for our family . Loved the quiet property & wonderful breakfast but when 1 or 2 members of each couple were not comfortable enough to sleep even half the night, it really diminshes the joy of the trip. When you anticipate a wonderful vacation with out of state family & pay the extra for spa accomodations instead of La Quinta, you get disappointed that the beds gave only crib size space for each adult. We have 6 foot 2 women & 6'6" men who are familiar with their feet hanging over but the narrow mattresses advertised as KING (We can handle the 4" Narrower California King which add the 4 inches in length) left us dispappointed.
We have traveled Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, UK & all over the Western US & have learned to check the bed size & furniture style. In Antique Hotels, the wrought iron frames or styles with raised foot boards mean the husbands sleep diagonal & there is no room even for a former model wife to stretch out & no room for a grandchild. We look at photos of rooms & explain why we need assurance of exactly which room we can use like in National Park Lodges, Silver City, Ouray, etc. We looked at INN photos for all rooms & were pleased the beds had no footboards so we all booked KING beds. Imagine our disappointment at half of us not being able to sleep on vacation.
I called back after getting home & measuring all 3 of our king mattresses & telling the INN that theirs were at least 2 inches too narrow to be a KING. I asked them to walk upstairs & measure the width instead of referring to the fact sheet because our bed was substantially narrower than 76 Inch Standard. You can tell if something is different when you sleep in a KING for 4 decades of marriage. Even the INN fact sheet listed the non standard width of 72 inches X standard 80" length but I had a measuring tape for the art & furniture we were buying . Our upstairs deluxe room was just a few inches wider than my 60" tape measure. I doubt they measured our actual mattress & offered no apology or remedy. We've stayed at Loretto & La Fonda but thought this small hotel would fit our family reunion better. We would have booked Double Queen rooms if we'd known about the TOO-NARROW "King" BEDS or maybe gone to the Inn of the Seven Graces. also highly recommended by friends. If our friends had not been tiny folk, maybe we'd know the KING beds were not wide enough for people who normally sleep in a Standard KING.
I was quite turned off by the indifferent response when I called back about the NARROW, Non-Standard King. Many Birthdays & Anniversaries we come to Santa Fe & buy Squash Blossom Necklaces from decade-long favorite Native Jeweler Joe the Turquoise House on Water Street & visit Ojo Caleinte Spa or Worrel Gallery. We just returned from our summer anniversary pilgrimage through Santa Fe & Colorado for 2018 with another Squash Blossom but we chose to stay at Bufflao Thunder with our Family the last 2 years so the golfers could play & the toddlers could swim.

INN on the Alamedas is a lovely property & if you want to do the Native Market in August or hear the live bands on the Plaza near 4th of July & other holidays, a great location but if you are can't sleep in a Queen Bed WITH a spouse comfortably, don't imagine you'll be comfortable in their NARROW, NON-STANDARD beds they call "King". I know this is an old property & they try to fit large beds into smaller rooms but a few inches is the difference between a restlful sleep & waking up 16 times a night from a knee or elbow from your partner or doing the same to them.
I was checking the reviews because my tall friend is going to Santa Fe in July & wanted recommendations. As a Quilter she KNOWS the size of KING beds. They have decided to stay at Ojo Caliente a couple of days & another of the downtown hotels I told her about because she said now that they are "old" & retired, they need a bigger bed to not bother each other on accident.

I wish I had read about the Non-Standard Narrower "King" beds BEFORE we dropped a bundle & usd our precious vaction time not sleeping at INN of the Alamedas. Luckily they had good coffee, but with the altitude & waiting for us to arrive before my brother in law actually ate breakfast, he had too many cups & we worried he was having another heart attack. Thankfully 2 family members are doctors. All ended well thankfully.
Maybe this review will save another family or couple sleepless nights by getting a Double Queen Room but if you like a Suite with a Standard King Bed, book elsewhere.

I traveled prior to October 2017 but that required info doesn't go back further & I have 5 reviews under Lisel M but can't get into that account.

Thank you for your detailed review regarding the mattress size. Our Queen mattresses are 60x80, and our king mattresses are actually 3 different sizes, 72x80,4 rooms, 76x80, 18 rooms, and 72x84, 19 rooms and one casita with an odd size, 70x78. Yes it is a bit odd that our kings are not standardized and as we replace mattresses, as we do routinely, we will replace with standard kings 76x80.

We keep a chart with mattress size by room, so anyone needing the longest or the widest is welcome to call and let us know their needs and we will do our best to accommodate.

So glad you found the perfect fit for your family.

Happy Travels.

This is a lovely inn, a collection of several buildings that run alongside a street that is across from the park. Outstanding features are the absolute service and sincerity of the staff who are always there to help. The shuttle to nearby locations is so very convenient and courteous and is always there when you need it. The staff greeted with a smile and has wonderful information on local attractions and restaurants. We had a large room with a king bed in what was called the deluxe building which is the farthest building after a short walk through lovely landscaped pathways. The room had the quietest air-conditioning we have ever had the pleasure to not hear. Only downside was that the small patio advertised in our room and many of the rooms basically abutted a parking lot or driveway, so was not especially useful, but was still nice to have as an outdoor space. Pricing is a bit on the high side, but that seems to be typical for trendy Santa Fe .The breakfast, which was advertised as Continental, is much , much more than that and has a variety of traditional and new Mexican, a.k.a. everything with chilies entrées. Lovely seating area either inside or outside on the patio.

we checked in and had no trouble adjusting to the santa fe pace immediately. the hotel is spread out over several lots at the corner of two busy streets making it a prime location to visit the plaza or canyon road. very quiet, good a/c and little amenities like afternoon goodies to munch and drink. an adequate restaurant with limited menu, good sized rooms with large bath. nicely furnished and very comfortable beds. staff was not particularly friendly but relatively on top of things. no swimming pool for those traveling with children
