The staff at the hotel are very warm, friendly, and helpful. They were the best part of the hotel. I liked the breakfast and that you could get drinks from the cafeteria throughout the day. The location is great. I chose this hotel based on reviews and while it was fine, I wanted something much more upscale and I would say it is below average of places I’ve stayed. I should have paid attention to the fact that it is a three star hotel instead of reviews. The room was clean-st least what I could see because it was dark-but the hallways needed a good vacuum. The decor is very dark and drab and I think it’s not a great value for the money. For what we spent, we could have had a much nicer room in a four star hotel with a location just as central. If we ever make it back to San Antonio, that’s what we’ll do.

This hotel is in the old Alamo National Bank building. It is nice that they kept the historical architecture in the building. The stained glass & gold leafing and brass was just beautiful. Lobby is beautiful. 2nd floor balcony overlooking lobby is where breakfast and 5:30 kickback meal and drinks are served. We stayed in the San Fernando Tower. You have to take an elevator to the 6th floor of the main building and then walk down a hall and ramp to another elevator in the San Fernando Tower & take that one to your floor. It was worth it staying in the San Fernando Tower. We had a balcony room (room 1267) facing the San Fernando Cathedral which is a beautiful building and has a 20 minute light and music show (“San Antonio, the Saga”, artist Xavier de Richemont.) at 9:00 / 9:30/ 10:00 several nights a week. The balcony was equipped with chairs & a table – comfortable to watch the light show & music. If you didn’t have a balcony room there was an open terrace for guests to view the San Fernando light show. Valet parking only at $23/day. Everything was walking distance from the hotel – the Riverwalk, the Alamo and more. We didn’t move car until we left. The staff was really friendly and did everything to make our stay wonderful. We were always greeted with a kind hello and nice smile. At check in Josh was very knowledgeable and helpful. You could tell he liked his job.
There is an indoor pool with a hot tub in the original building and in the San Fernando building there is a rooftop outdoor pool with 2 hot tubs. There is glass surrounding the pool deck offering a wonderful view of the city. There is a spot showing the original vault for the bank and some historical pieces. The bedroom was in the middle of the room configuration with a big living area with kitchenette with balcony – chairs & table. The bathroom was really nice & the showerhead was great. Kick back meals at 5:30 nightly were included and had nachos, hot dogs, pasta Alfredo, wine, beer, mixed drinks, salad. Breakfast was also included and had scrambled eggs, Texas shaped waffles, pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pastries, fruit etc. Maple syrup at each table. All the staff in all areas of the hotel were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
When we arrived we received a goody bag with waters, chips, granola bar, and chocolate for inconvenience of construction going on in the building. That was nice & the construction really didn’t affect us.

Room tip: Get a room in the San Fernando building facing the church. Room 1267was great for watching the light show and looking over the riverwalk

Liked everything about my stay from the hotel's beautiful interior to my spacious and attractive room on the 21st floor with great views. River Walk is easily accessed from the bottom floor and the Alamo is close by, too. Staff was always friendly and attentive. "Happy hour" is offered with light food choices. Highly recommend.
