This is a very old cemetery with a lot of famous graves and a sad history. The site is getting ready to close for upkeep soon.

We walked through the cemetery and it was quiet. There are paths to walk on and you get a glimpse of the ages of the tombstones. Some are from the 1600's, 1700's, and 1800's and are really showing the wear on them. It is worth the wall through to get a sense of history.

The Old Burying Point cemetery is a very old graveyard next to the memorial at the Salem witch trial victims falsely accused of witchcraft who were hung. There are graves as far back as the 1600’s. This is also the graveyard where Judge Hawthorne is buried, one of the witch trial judges who found many innocent people guilty of witchcraft. We found the cemetery when we visited the Salem Witch trial victims memorial. It’s amazing, it’s right down a busy street in Salem tucked away in a back corner by an alley. Very interesting!

We actually stumbled upon this cemetery. It is tucked back off a street right in the middle of everything. We were so interested to see headstones from the 1600's. Very interesting place.
