We finally went to 2 Spring Street with another couple. We heard so much hype about it we had to try it. Upon our arrival the hostess really didn’t give us much of her attention. It was almost like we were bothering her. We heard the noise level in the room so we asked if we could dine upstairs. She said she was sorry, there weren’t any available tables up there. We dealt with the high level of noise and tried to keep our voices as loud as everyone else’s. We could barely hear each other.
We ordered drinks and they weren’t good pours for Long Island standards. They charge $16 a drink, it should have been a better drink. They also refused to put our drinks in stem glasses as we requested. They claimed the chef doesn’t serve anything but wine in his crystal. The manager saw we had some issues already and didn’t bother coming over to us. I thought that’s what a manager does.
All of liked our appetizers. The salads were good, nothing amazing. For our main course 2 of us ordered the paella and found it extremely salty and not really good. Maybe it was just a bad night here, not sure. We have no desire to go back any time soon. I’m sure others love it here and must have had a totally different experience then we did.

Over priced food.
We had six for dinner, we did not wait for a table, we where seated on the second floor. Very noisy, but this did not bother us. Our waiter was pushing the tasting menu for the whole table. We all did not agree for that. As we told the waiter that we are not going to do the tasting menu Wow did he change, it was like now he has to take our dinner orders (work for him).
Four of the six dinners were NOT hot one was send back i found out after we left one of the dinners had peas and they were still frozen.
Bar is small by the front door.
The owner did a very nice job on the renovation.
I'm sure after a few some time, people will really see what this 2 Spring is about.

Decor of restaurant is beautiful, two story building, very modern looking establishment. We were seated upstairs which I liked because there are more tables upstairs, a little more room, and the bar isn't in the way. Ordered frizze and cesar salads, both were delicious and both with original takes on the dishes. Fusili pasta with chunks of veal as a small plate order, beyond delicious. And the steak entree course was on par with any steak restaurant on the island, that good! Frank our server was knowledgeable and helpful navigating the menu. Wine list is fantastic, and they have Oyster Bay Beers on tap which is a nice local feature. This is as close to a trendy Manhattan spot as we can find right now on Long Island, take advantage!

This was our first time at this restaurant and it will not be our last. The food was fabulous. The crispy branzino was one of my favorites. My husband’s red snapper was delicious too. From our lobster appetizer to great cocktails to dessert....all was top shelf. The chef here is wonderful! We can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.

before you taste a thing, you can't help but be impressed by the design and service- both impressive and fresh in a town steeped in history. the food is amazing- the unexpected combination of cod fritter and ragu, perfect scallops, and the best version of smores ever. best idea was to order a number of small plates perfect for tasting and sharing...and take seriously the separate drinks menu. don't rush through here, quite a lot to discover and enjoy- and rarer still- also have a conversation you can hear
