Our family of five stayed here Labor Day weekend, and although I wished we could have moved a little closer to the pool/river (we kinda had the parking lot/driveway - view), our condo was pretty great.
The staff was friendly and professional at check in. I loved the decor, the beds were VERY comfortable, FULL kitchen to save some cash on meals, and even a washer and dryer so we weren't packing home all of our dirty clothes. We sat around the firepit one evening (first come, first served! stake out your spot early and quiet hours after ten so plan your fun accordingly) ...firewood available at Safeway...
DirecTV and WiFi - good, Jacuzzi Bath - Good, plenty of towels - good
The pool are and and the "outdoor game" area are nice and fun.
Each unit is alotted one parking space - so that is a definite plus (we've stayed in places where parking is a pretty big hassle - not the case here)
We walked to town four or five times - it really is about a five minute walk to the start of the "main drag." Also walking distance to Antonio's - the famous pizza place...just a word of advice - better to call in your order and carry out. There are about ten seats in that whole place, but the pizza is delicious.
I would agree that there is a bit of a need for sound insulation - we were lucky and had quiet upstairs neighbors and on the nights we needed to get to sleep we ran fans (seriously one of the best travel tips I can offer - buy a little fan and set it up next to your bed), but could still hear sound of doors opening and closing and footsteps. Hopefully they always put families like ours on the bottom floor because I would've felt bad if we were on the second.
By the way..if you're going to Estes - sign up for the Safeway "card" or membership or whatever - you'll save $). *We did have to go and get more dish and laundry soap - there was enough for a few loads but we went through it all.
Read through the book in the room on what you need to do upon leaving in order to receive your deposit. We got ours back one day before promised on the original receipt, so no complaints there, either.
The Village is in a great location. It is a 5 minute walk to downtown but it does not feel like you are in town. Our room was very nice, very clean, and everything was in working condition. It was great to have a washer and dryer in the condo. We opened our windows at night to listen to the creek which was behind our condo. Pool and hot tubs were very nice. We had an Elk walk through the Village nightly. We really enjoyed our stay.
Con: Our condo was on the ground floor. We had a great sitting area behind our condo which we really enjoyed. It was well landscaped and had a great little creek running through it, but I wish it would have had a better view. The property next door had some old run down apartments which we had to look at when we were outside. If we would have booked earlier, I would prefer a better view. That is the only reason that I did not give it 5 Stars.
I would recommend the Village.
We were very impressed by the unit and amenities. Our annual trip to the estes park parade was a success as a result of Elkhorn Fall River Village. The staff was over accomodating from emails informing us of road and weather conditions prior to our visit down to being available to replace a broken can opener for our thanksgiving dinner. We will definitely be back next year.
I'll start with the positive: the location was a 5 min walk from downtown Estes park; the condo was very clean and appreciated the door key system with a scanner for safety . The negative: the bedrooms were very small...no where to put your luggage with very small closets ir deessors for your clothes unless you like to ex drawers under the beds. The vent system over the stove was ineffective...room would get smokey quickly...had to open doors and windows or smoke detectors would go off. We let management know and they were going to look into it. Also, had problems the last night with the washing machine...let management know about this as well...they were very responsive and hopefully it was fixed. The property was immaculate and the wildlife, e.g. elk were wonderful
My family and I recently stayed at the Elkhorn River Village for a family vacation to Estes Park. I am going to start this with the positives then negatives...
Beautiful rooms, decor and facilities
Within walking distance of downtown
Distance to Rocky Mountain National Park
Fall river very close to property (right next to it)
Commons area items were nice (ex. fire pit, swimming pool, hammocks)
decks and patios with each room
prices... ok for what we were looking for (two bedroom, two bath)
walls were thin- we could hear neighbors upstairs sneezing
paperwork/rules- too much required for staying at this property
housekeeping- I am particular but I believe their housekeeping could do a better job, in regards to the housekeeping, we had something that happened that required housekeeping to enter our room and management took care of the situation immediately. The situation should never have happened but it was a housekeeping issue and was addressed immediately by management to our satisfaction.
All in all I would recommend this property and would stay here again if visiting the area.
