First, we've seen lots of castles and mansions...but this was very different because of the Southwest style: single story, spread out. And the story of the people and culture there evoked a European feudal manor. Our docent asked how long we could spend, and when we said "all day" he was delighted to give us lots of history of the home and those who lived there. Turned out the home was in his family generations ago. He shared about how the wealthy landowners and those who worked for them had a symbiotic relationship, and about marriages through the years impacted the family.. Great stories! And FREE (donations for foundation accepted)

We have visited several times, mostly during events, and have been very impressed with all the work that has been done during the restoration of the house and grounds. The museum tells the story of the family and the property quite vividly and the various artifacts displayed enhance the history. One can spend as little or as much time there as one wants, reading all the informative explanations and walking the beautiful grounds. We very lucky to have such a place here in Albuquerque and the South Valley.

My wife and I had the extreme pleasure of attending the annual Agricultural Land Trust dinner at the Hubbell House. Food was provided by high end local restaurants-who sourced local providers of all ingredients. While the building and contents are charming, it was the grounds (including garden) that made the event so unique. The setting in the south valley, and relationship to the Rio Grande corridor make this a very special place. Highly recommended to all who are interested in the history of the central Rio Grande and who want to explore the area's roots.

We attended a family wedding late July. HOT and balmy and had to park in a field a bit away from the wedding site. The staff did a great job and it all went well. The caterers had fabulous services and were prompt as planned. Only issue was cleanup which fell on the family - not sure if the site offers that even for a fee?

The site is well maintained and exhibits present a detailed history of the peoples who helped settle the area beginning around 1600, The connections to the present are highlighted and celebrated. To appreciate the present, visiting Gutierrez-Hubbell House is a must do experience. Five stars and 4 thumbs up to the staff and docents who have a passion for sharing it's history.
