We made a same day reservation on Opentable and were seated right after our arrival. The ambiance is incredible with a distinctive hunting lodge/cabin feeling to the restaurant. After ordering our food, we were brought warm bread and an amuse bouche (which was a steak kabob- well seasoned with green pepper and onion). The inner bread was delicious but the crust was tough to chew. Both of our steaks were perfect, the sides were delicious and the bearnaise sauce was different than I’ve tried before but so yummy! We didn’t have dessert but were brought 2 mole dark chocolate truffles which were a perfect way to finish off the meal... such a nice experience and a delicious meal!

Service, ambiance, and most importantly food were world class. With 6 of us there we tried almost everything and nobody was disappointed. Calamari appetizer, filet, bone in rib eye, fish special, lobster tail and sides all great. Service ways attentive without overdoing it and knowledgeable about menu and restaurant. Authentic western ranching feel to space. Loved it. Will be back whenever we are in ABQ.

In 2007, I wrote a glowing review of the Rancher’s Club, and last year (10 years later) went back there, virtually salivating over the chance to revive that wonderful experience. What a disappointment. It is just not the same place it once was. Lamb chops and steaks were just “okay”, but prices were comparable to those at a truly fine steakhouse, for quality that was maybe just a cut above Golden Corral. Service was unprofessional and lackadaisical. My biggest personal disappointment may have been the fact that they no longer offered the prickly pear jelly to accompany the lamb. I had built this place up in my mind and to my family, and they were polite, but clearly wondering what it was that I thought was so wonderful about it. I won’t go back.

We waited at the hostess desk to be seated and finally a hostess arrived, scanned the computer, picked up some menus and started walking towards the tables. She did not say one word to us so it was unclear if we were to follow her. The restaurant was not busy. We were seated in a lovely booth and after waiting about 15 minutes were finally greeted by our server who was friendly but disconnected. It took another 20 minutes to get our cocktail as apparently she had to run and get supplies for the barman! (sugar and lemon).
The meal was great. Delicious calamari appetizer and the bison tournedos were also delicious albeit a little salty. My husband ordered the Cowboy Ribeye which he requested medium rare. It wasn't but we didn't send it back -we should have done. He enjoyed it however. The portions are massive and in my opinion very poorly presented. We had to get half of our meals boxed as there was just too much. Where are the lovely covers that used to be used?
The ambience has definitely changed over the years. The dress code is no longer followed as there were lots of diners in shorts and caps! A shame as some families had clearly gone all out and were dressed beautifully. The waitress was basically disinterested and spent endless time in the kitchen or chatting to the pianist. It did not have the feeling of a 'fine dining' restaurant.
This used to be our 'go to' place for special occasions but it seems tired now and the waitstaff are not trained to their previous standards. I'm not sure we will be back any time soon. Such a pity.

We were promptly sat and offered drinks. We decided on wine. The crab cake appetizer was delicious, full of meat, not breading. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the fish special was you die for. Service couldn't have been better.

Dessert was not an option as we were too full, but they like fabulous!

Next time, dessert first.
