By ground It is a great experience but only for people in good shape. It is a 4 hours trail average. It is not recommended for small children under 8 years old.

If you plan a day trip using the trail and returning by boat make sure of the following before you leave or during your walk:

1. Check the weather the day before and make sure it will be a sunny and windless day, avoid the trip if the wind is coming from the south otherwise it will a hard boat ride when you return. You risk a return by walking back which will be very hard in the same day.

2. Avoid the trail in case its wet. Thats a 4 hours walk with ups and downs stepping in stones and in very slippery ground , chances of falls increase 10x. There will be no cell phone signal to request rescue in case of an accident.

3. Leave very early in the morning allowing time to stop at the 3 waterfalls the highlights of the trail and enjoy the incredible environment.

4. Bring lots of mosquito repellent. The famous "borrachudo" can become a big issue. Also bring water and food for the 4 hours walk.

5. Be aware of snakes and other insects. I saw two non poisonous snakes during my day trail. Not an issue but you must be vigilant. The trail is very wide so you can spot anything moving in advance.

6. I strong recommend tracking shoes, no flip flops or flat tenis shoes.

7. Park your car near New York restaurant, you can still park further but the boat will bring you back to the restaurant and you will need to walk get your car back.

Have fun! Arriving in the Bonete Beach is amazing! Preserve the nature and never leave a trace behind.

Take water, snacks, and a lot mosquito repellentspray along!
During the tour you don't have any chance to buy anything
The beautiful trail leads you through the jungle anderen oder suspension bridges
Absolutely good shoes required (sliperry)

Recommend to stay in Bonete at least one night

Words can't describe going back in time to a place where people live at one with nature and the small town of 300 people in what seems like middle of nowhere is a beatnick looking little town on the other side of ilhabela.

We took a day trip by boat from our posada on the other side of the island but will plan to come back to stay on the beach in the future.

Fresh food . I mean great fish!!! It's too good to be true!!!! It's really robinson cruso vacation

I'm not a hiker and would consider this a moderate hike, and maybe even difficult due to the length. Plan 4-5 hours to hike, therefore leave early to enjoy the day at the beach. Or if adventurous, pack an overnight bag (I wish we did!) as it seemed easy to find accommodations on the spot. Boat back should be R$50 per person as I recommend you don't hike back. No need to book it ahead of time – we were offered several options. Also, on your way there, if you park at the lot at the end of the dirt road, be prepared to be left off at some (slippery) rocks to hike back up to the property on return. Last but not least – bring tons of mosquito repellant. Cheers!
