Having family in Cromer means we have often paid a visit to Galton Blackistons restaurant but have never ventured upstairs which is apparently more formal and offers a wider variety of food and drink. Felt driven to add a review of ground floor on trip advisor as on this particular occasion, through Easter holidays and a miserably rainy day, we were catered for admirably. We did have to wait a few minutes before being seated as it was very busy (amusements across the road handily placed to fill the time for the little ones..and big ones whilst others held spot in the queue) but the short wait was worth it. Battered fish and chips all round and not forgetting ‘Cockle popcorn’ which is a must. Generous portions and always fresh fish and a lovely light crispy batter.
Only reservations was limited beer offer but beer was a good cask ale.
We were 4 adults 3 children and toddler in a high chair and despite the scene of post meal desolation the staff were excellent. Never disappointed eating here.

We eat here once or twice a year and it's always a predictably good meal. Great chips, nice thick chunky cod and proper mushy peas.
We have to give extra credit to our waiter today. We sat on the table near the door which so many people were leaving open when they left - despite the fact it was a cold and wet Easter weekend...! Even though he was busy with his job he magically appeared to close the door when it was left open. He was funny yet professional when taking our order and an all round credit to the restaurant. We don't know his name but he is best described as a better looking version of Ed Sheeran. Keep hold of him - he's good !!

The best fish & chips (& I’ve tasted a few!). Great views over the pier and haddock & chips are the best. Good selection of beers and unfussy efficient service. We always take visitors as it is a real treat - take away is great too and good value.

Been here a few times when on holiday. This time ordered mini fish , chips & minted mushy peas each for two of us.
Fish was excellent as always, but the chips were warm and the peas cold.
Waiter offered a fresh bowl of chips (which were hot) but left us with the warm chips, and 2 new pots of peas that were cold. Called him again and he replaced both pots of peas with warm peas.
In hindsight, the whole meal should have gone back!
Some recovery was made when the waiter took the peas and a portion of chips off the bill.
