“Laze and loosen in the lush grounds of Casa Pequena”

Overall, we had a lovely stay in Casa Pequena. Patrick could not have been more helpful and as others have said the Casita has everything that you could possibly need during your stay. We enjoyed the company of Ben and Jerry and evenings with wine and music cooking in the ouside kitchen by the pool which is beautiful. The gardens are lovely and the area is very quiet. It is possible to walk to two local bars/restuarants and we found them to be extremely freindly with good food. Do not under estimate the strength of the sun on the roof terraces even with the lovely breezes, we did and got burnt on the first day!

“A quirky little oasis for a relaxing break”
Reviewed 25 May 2009 for a stay in September 2008

Patrick and his father provide great hosts for a little gem hidden amongst the 'plasticos' outside Motril. Don't be put off by the surroundings, once you pass through the gate it is another world. Casa Pequena is one of the neatest little places we've ever stayed in and the surrounding gardens and pool provide a great escape.

“The most relaxing holiday we've ever had – so peaceful.”
Reviewed 24 May 2009 for a stay in June 2006

The most relaxing holiday we've ever had – so peaceful. The owner couldn’t be more helpful, there if you need help, but otherwise unobtrusive. Everything we needed was there – excellently equipped kitchen, satellite TV, wireless broadband internet, comfy bed … even hot water bottles. The layout of the villa is a little quirky – but that only added to the charm. Delightful mature gardens & (small) private pool. Helps if you like dogs as the owner has 2 fairly large, but very friendly hounds called Ben & Gerry. A car is a must as it’s too far to walk to either the town (Motril) or the sea. This is our second visit - and we look forward to our next - which can’t come soon enough. Sally & Graeme

“This is paradise!”
Reviewed 21 May 2009 for a stay in May 2006

Set between the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean, the Cortijo's 2 spaces are authentically and tastefully decorated in classic Andalusian style, yet filled with modern amenities. The garden is literally paradise, and we spent almost all,of our time in it. In the evening we would cook outside and sit under the avocado tree, drinking vino tinto, visiting with Patrick our host, the dogs lazing at our feet. Patrick made us feel welcome and at home at once, with a generous welcome package in the kitchen, useful advice, and a good sense of humour. A place for travellers rather than tourists, motril is an unspoiled Andalusian town with a deep and fascinating history, friendly residents, good restaurants and night life. Day trips to Salobrena, Las Alpuharras, Almeria and Almunecar are easy and worthwhile, especially returning to the beauty and hospitality of the Cortijo Nuevo. We have travelled all the way from Canada twice, and intend to take our entire family back next year. Consider yourself blessed to get a reservation.

“Cosy casita with views of the Sierra Nevada”
Reviewed 21 May 2009 for a stay in February 2006

My Mum and I spent 2 cosy weeks at the Cortijo Nuevo in Feb 2006. The casita is a lovely spot for a self-catering trip, as it is surrounded by a lush garden (oranges, lemons, and avocados just hanging off the trees in abundance) and you are made instantly at home by the charming owners and the friendly dogs.
With views of the Sierra Nevada from the window, you are reminded of how close to Granada you are, and certainly a day trip to the Alhambra Palace is well worth it.
In the local town of Motril there is a lovely spa where you can be pampered and spend some time relaxing in between sight-seeing and sampling the local tapas.
