Beautiful spot in the island.
You have a pretty good long walk or a boat travel right through there but is remarkable. Beautiful and with an amazing view into the Atlantic Ocean.
Great stay for a lunch also!

What a place ,, it is very interesting to go down and have a walk around there , the thing is to climb on your way back , have to do it slow , but worth it

While I visited Berlenga island I had lunch at Forte de São João Baptista. To have a meal there you have to pay a small solidarity fee that will help the Firefighters, which I gladly did.

The meals available are simple but tasty. I had a Bifana with a huge dose of salad and chips, more than enough to gather energy for the nature walk. The menu is very simple, almost camping food, sadly no fresh grilled sardines included, but still very tasty and nice for the small price. You can also take your own food and picnic there, but for a short day's visit it isn't really worth carrying all the weight. It's better for people staying at the hostel.

The fort itself is small and very charming, made from the island's pink stone, well worth the visit, but sadly the facilities are rather primitive and in need of some renovation. But the ocean view pays for it all and it was a pleasure having a break there.
