We stayed at the Sunflower hotel for 5 nights while we were diving in Malta. We had a very active holiday so weren't in our hotel room for much more than sleeping but they were very comfortable rooms and I would happily stay again.

When we arrived we were greeted by a very charming lady who checked us in (I'm sorry I wish I got her name but we traveled in from London and she mentioned she'd spent some time there before). We arrived early but she was happy for us to leave our bags in a secure room while the room was being prepared.
The bedroom was very spacious and very clean. We stayed in June where the temperature was around 27° but thankfully the AirCon in the room was very effective but also quiet so it didn't disturb our sleep at night. My only criticism about the room would be there's not a lot of storage; a chest of drawers would be ideal, especially as the room has more than enough space. A fridge would be great aswell particularly in the summer months so we could keep water cool.

We had breakfast included which was limited but tasty and the restaurant was kept immaculately clean every morning.

There is a rooftop pool and bar which isn't as big as it looks in the pictures on the website but was a lovely space to relax in after a busy day. There's plenty of sun loungers and the two of us never struggled to find two together. The pool was kept very clean and the views particularly towards the coast were beautiful.

For our needs and the price we paid I think the hotel was very good value and I would stay again if I was visiting for a similar style holiday.

Just got back from Malta. We stayed at this hotel and I sorry to say what dump the area was just waste .our view was graffiti on disgusting pictures and wording our room although spacious had a leaking toilet with very loose seat the bedside draw was falling to bits the throw on the bed was dirty as was the netting and curtains and the aircon did not work . The food was disgusting my husband had the soup 3 days in a row and said it was as if they were just adding water to it daily .the rest of the food when we did eat there was tasteless unappetizing. We asked for water one evening to be totally ignored when I spoke to the person on reception all we got was what's your room number .this hotel we felt was unacceptable for it's star rating I would only give it a 1 at that .It's sad to say we won't be going back to Malta it may have history but that's it that as nothing to do in the evening as there is very little entertainment .And you like pizza pasta or burgers you'll be fine if you want anything else good luck finding it .I strongly suggest jet 2 relook at this hotel as it won't be doing the company any good sending people there

Arrived with husband for 1 week, less than impressed with the facilities, room spacious and clean but the view from the balcony awful, a scrubland car park with abandoned old cars and graffiti strewn walls.
Air con didn’t work at all, we had to rely on an old noisy ceiling fan to keep us cool, only 2 plug sockets in the middle of the room made charging difficult.
2 lifts in the building but one was out of order every day.
The dining room very disorganised, tables rarely set, cutlery and crockery in short supply or often non existent, when available plates were very small tea plates, breakfast choices very limited, evening meal the same, we ate out every night after day one.
Location isn’t great, fair walk to the nearest bar and to the seafront, past partly demolished walls, derelict scrubland and building sites.
Positives- pool area nice, quiet and peaceful. Rooms cleaned daily and thoroughly with fresh towels.
A very dated hotel, not a great experience for us and we certainly wouldn’t return.

My husband and I stayed at the Sunflower Hotel in May, normally we stay at the Dolmen or the DB San Antonio but wanted a hotel closer to where we have relatives. After reading previous reviews we were a little worried, but for the money we paid it was great value, the room was cleaned daily, the room we had was on the corner and had two balconies which was lovely. There was plenty of hot water for showering. Although I would bring your own hairdryer as the bathroom ones (in any hotel) are never great for blow-drying). Breakfast was good, always something you could eat, we only went for b&b so cannot comment on other meals. The staff were always helpful. The roof terrace was a real gem as was the pool bar staffed usually by Alexandra who was the most helpful and charming young lady. We sometimes had toasties up there at lunch time and they were very good. All in all we had a lovely stay, although a bit of walk to the bus station, Bugibba square, I would definetly return for pure value for money - yes the Dolmen offers luxury but the Sunflower was more personal. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Corner rooms for double balconies

Yes it can be a little noisey
Yes it can be noisey depending on the guest, which I would find this in most hotels.
Furniture a little tired, however it will be having a make over in the near future.

The manager is very nice, professional, and very smart. He works behind the reception as well as his own job so the hotel will function in a professional way.
All the receptionist are so friendly, the domestics provided clean sheets, fresh towels, and clean the rooms to a good standard.

The food, this is optional when booking it would be nice to bring back the boiled eggs though the bacon and sausage is not to bad, however, their is plenty to eat from cereals, cheeses, cooked meats, and tradional Maltese bread along side fresh baps and bread. Hot drinks are available with a choice.

Their are plenty of excellent restaurants not far away, you can walk to buggiba square within ten minutes.

It can be a little noisey at the back of the hotel with the cockerel maybe the front of the hotel would be better for light sleepers.

I have now stayed at this hotel numours times, and will be staying again in November we stayed in 516 last week over looking the farm.
Some reviews I find very insulting to this small well run hotel.

This is not a savoy hotel or the Hilton hotel but is managed just as professional as they are.

If you want a well managed safe hotel it's a good place to stay.

Keep up the good work

Regards

Wendy Rawlinson

Room Tip: Ideal location, trips out can be arranged, beautiful walks, cinema close by, safe environment, excellent places to to eat out.
