My 17 year old daughter and I had a fantastic visit on the farm. We booked a studio apartment on the farm through Airbnb, then had the opportunity to ride the horses the following morning after our stay. (I would stay longer next time!) I have ridden horses occasionally throughout my life, but always with a little fear. Riding with Ilona, one of the stable women, was an absolute joy. In the short time that I spent on the horse I felt very comfortable and felt a particular bond with the animal. One of the most gentle breeds that I have experienced. It was amazing to feel the difference between "tolting", the gait most horses have lost between walking and trotting, and an actual trot. Such an incredibly smooth ride. I could tell instantly when the horse switched from tolting to trotting. Seeing the surrounding countryside and hearing the history of some of the volcanic eruptions in the area was fascinating. One of the highlights of our trip!
